ASUS is the best of the bunch when it comes to PCs. They have some really great cooling systems in them that keep everything stable, and you can pick ones up with a nice aluminium chassis for the same price as a nasty plastic HP, Compaq, or Toshiba.
TBH, I've never used ASUS myself but a lot of my friends have and no one was ever really sattisfied so I kinda don't feel like using them. Cooling system of my current Sony was a lot better than that of my old Dell, but it still didn't help (not saying that a good cooling system isn't absolutely needed just ...). But I agree when it comes to Compaq and Toshiba, though HP does have some nice things (though price/performance is not always worth it ...)

Eh, don’t diss Sony. My Vaio is stronger and lasting better than all two Dells and the one MSI that my roomies have. Hast du den Montagsrechner erwischt?
Ich hatte zwei Dells vor diesem Vaio. Mein letzter Dell war ... der hate JAHRE gehalten, hat genauso viel damals gekostet wie der Vaio letztes Jahr, hat ähnliches Innenleben wie mein jetztiger aber läuft viel, VIEL schneller (no kidding). Ich konnte mit dem Dell echt alles machen ohne das er groß angefangen hat zu heulen (bis kurzm vorm Ende halt). Habe gleichzeitig Browser mit 20 Tabs offen gehabt, Screencaps gemacht, Grafiken oder Video Editing offen gehabt und nen Player mit ner Serie und der Dell wurde n bissl langsam. Mein "neuer" Vaio prustet schon wie ein Senior beim Gipfelstieg wenn ich nur Browser offen hab und Screencaps mache. Ich kann eine Gif mit PS machen, danach isser so langsam das ich ihn eigentlich neu starten müsste (und so war er seit Kauf ...).
Mein alter Dell is mir mehrmals von über einem Meter Höhe auf Holz und/oder Steinboden gefallen. Der Rechner is noch nicht mal ausgegangen. Kleiner Kratzer an der Hülle, sonst nix.
Ich will dich nich überzeugen aber ich muss sagen im Vergleich habe ich echt MIESE Erfahrungen mit meinem Vaio gemacht. Der war vom ersten Hochfahren an langsamer und bitchiger als mein Dell jemals. Meinen Dell nehme ich nur nicht mehr, weil der Bildschirm dann irgendwann kaputt war (bedenke, ich hab das Ding jeden Tag in die Uni geschleppt, mindestens 6 mal im Jahr (die letzten 2 Jahre bedeutend öffter) mit dem durch die Gegend geflogen im Handgepäck etc - der is rumgekommen) und dann irgendwann das Hochfahren um ne Stunde brauchte. AKA das Ende ist auch da absehbar. Aber noch ist es so - wenn er hochgefahren ist (und am externen Bildschirm hängt), dann läuft er so wie immer.
Nebenbei habe ich fast Zeitgleich mit dem Vaio ein Sony Xperia geholt, welches fast die gleichen Krankheiten wie mein Vaio hat, sich nimma ordentlich aufladen lässt, dessen An/Aus Knopf mal funktioniert, mal nicht.
Ich ... könnte noch mehr aufzählen, aber ich glaube du verstehst wenn ich sage, ich bin mit Sony durch? Jedenfalls mit "neuen" Sony sachen (habe noch einen CD Spieler für die alte HiFi Anlage, der is bestimmt 30 Jahre alt oder so, der läuft super xD).

Absolutely agree. Got a phone and my current notebook from Sony and feel like shoving both so far up Sony's ass they can puke them back out. Such a waste of money on my part.
Generally, I want an Alienware, bad <.< But it'll be a while until I can afford that so I'll probably substitute a "normal" Dell, which is what I had before and who is still running like a trooper even with a fucked cooling system, a broken screen and a frail, senior-citizen motherboard *laughs*
