The Sessions LA Youth Music Program needs to raise $5K by August 1st for this year's Summer Institute! Please help by donating to our IndieGoGo and spreading the word to your communities!
What is the Sessions LA Summer Institute?
Sessions LA’s Summer Institute is a 3-month intensive summer music program organized and run by Sessions LA. It is targeted to youth ages 15 to 20 years that have either some musical training or have participated in our Fall & Spring Sessions program. The Summer Institute’s goal is to draw from and build upon the beginner & intermediate level DJ, Production, Recording, and Writing / Vocal Performance skills learned in our Fall & Spring Sessions to produce an original album focused around the theme of “Roots”. Through this process, we hope that the young artists can not only improve upon their music performance and technology skills, but also will find a stronger voice in using their artforms to tell the stories of their community.
Our Mission & History
Sessions LA is a music writing, production, recording, & DJ program for youth and young adults in Los Angeles. Our mission is to promote youth development, nurture critical thinking, and foster community building through the process of creating music.
Sessions was started in 2005 at Search To Involve Pilipino Americans (SIPA), a youth and community center located in LA’s Rampart District/Historic Filipinotown. Over the years, Sessions has released a number of mixtapes and albums that are entirely written, produced, and recorded by the youth in our program.

Where Does Your Money Go?
We need to raise $5,000 by August 1, 2013.
The funds will go towards paying for teaching artists and guest workshoppers, much-needed music equipment, album production costs (mixing, mastering, and pressing physical copies), merchandise, culminating student concert costs, and fiscal sponsorship and administrative fees.
Sessions LA is a project of the Pasadena Arts Council, a 501(c)(3) non-profit. That means, for US residents, your donation is tax-deductible!
Power in Numbers
Help us get the word out about the Summer Institute campaign! The more people that know about it, the more likely we are to make our goal. You can use the IndieGoGo sharing tools to tell your friends online. Or, take the more traditional route and have a conversation about it. Every action counts!
