A non exhaustive list of memorable, for better or worse, people I met in person during 2025.
- A man who lives in a flooded house but doesn’t mind because he has good waterproof boots.
- A woman who apparently owns horses but never told me this, I could just tell because of the mess on her boots. She was also wearing a black mini dress at the time.
- A man who claimed not to know the existence of any soap opera except one.
- A man who was aggressively complaining about a stale scone two weeks after he bought it and was expecting a €2 coin to be posted to him by way of refund.
- A couple who are clearly only together because neither wants to give up half in the divorce.
- A woman who had an incredible air of elegance about her while bodying a steak.
- A woman who told me a story of disliking western medicine because cocaine seemed to do the same thing for her.
- A man who tried to be as confrontational as possible while passing it off as ‘just talking’.
- Two separate people on two separate occasions who had never heard of instagram.
- A man who almost died from covid, who does now not believe in covid.
- A person who told me so passionately that they didn’t actually care about the story I was telling to a group that it sent me into a months long depressive existential spiral.
- A dog owner who looked so strikingly like their pet that I thought it was intentional. It was not.
- A greek man with the best white wine and pizza pairing recommendation I’d ever had.
- Two girls who cried and screamed so hard during a concert that it elevated my own experience to be near them and their energy in the crowd.
- A woman who exclusively travels by train or bike.
- Two people who hate the project they currently work on but love the salary.
- A woman with terrible hair but excellent fashion sense.
- A group of men who all wore the same cologne by accident.
