Do you feel analyzing kinks can diminish your enjoyment of them? If you share an interest in them of course.
For a lot of people yes. It is not in style to be analytical. People can be judgey and bullshit about things, but that isn’t really analysis, and it’s usually circlejerking. Really trying to break things down alienates people.
However, I enjoy the hell out of it and like considering things like:
Hey, is the escapist side of pornography really bad? (Answer: It can be) and it’s when you start thinking about vague answers that aren’t “it sucks” or “I love it” that start to annoy people since uh.
.. It takes more than glancing, and it takes ignoring your own instincts to give a short answer.
I enjoy it.. But for example, I talk about why hyper is good and I say “Well there’s a little bit of instinctual attraction to the hyper-real, the supernormal. Read about supernormality to learn more!” or try to describe it as a sort of addictive personality thing? Like “I like liquor, but more liquor is more betterer!”
And people go “Supernormality sounds like a fake thing!” without punching it into an internet search because. Like. They’re lazy and they don’t care and wanna loudly “get” or “not get” something.
