On this international mothers days, I want to ask, what Tokyo Ghoul fave characters do you see enjoying being mothers or which would dislike it. Or maybe, which would come around to it?
Thank you for the ask, friend! Truthfully, as an ace person who dislikes being around children, part of the appeal of some characters to me is that they don't fit the maternal mold and Ishida disappoints me when he shoehorns some of them into it anyway. Even when the sadistic dom in me wants to domesticate a lady from the series it's more in a 'sentient pincushion' way than a 'lobotomized housewife' way. But ask, and you shall receive the very best I could do! Long post under the cut
Yoriko - she would be good at the quintessential mom things, and even has a strong nurturing but firm side that could handle the realities of parenting, but in my post-canon universe, her restaurant is her baby. She works hard for what she wants and if she wanted kids, she would have them. They would pull her focus from running her business and nighttime feedings just wouldn't work with long shifts of ingredient prep and busy services. She could maybe, maybe come around to it if Touka, her wife in my universe, wanted them badly enough to step back from :re or teaching or whatever she does to take care of them. Not that Yoriko would be completely uninvolved. Like I said, she could be a good parent, but the restaurant and career she busted her ass for since high school would always come first for her, and kids need to come first if you have them, so they would have to work together to compensate for the former enough that the kids still come first for them as a family unit, if that makes sense.
Akira - wouldn't be good at it, wouldn't like it, and has no desire to change either of those things. Even just partnering her up cost Ishida any remaining crumbs of credibility he might have had with me after the Rushima arc. She is a forever-single cat lady and asexual weapons fanatic, and that's what I like about her. Making her Haise's maternal figure is and has always been so laughable to me because that is so not Mado Akira and it would have so much comedic potential if it wasn't more likely the author viewing her personality in the original series as like... young and immature for a woman, so of course after a time skip, she's more mature and that automatically means she's more motherly. The Real Akira thinks babies look like mangled hairless cats and cringes when Misato's husband brings their kids to visit her at the main office. She doesn't even realize how many times she refers to them as 'its' when the happy nuclear family somehow foils her effort to ignore them and keep, you know, investigating murders.
Ihei - zero interest in being a mom, if not aversion to it. Children would be a distraction from surpassing Arima, a task that already might be impossible and that's why she wants to do it, at best. She may not dislike other people's kids as much as Akira does. If someone goes on childcare leave, then she might be able to poach some of their good half-solved cases and be their boss by the time they decide to come back. Same with covering a less desirable shift so the parents on her assignment can see their kids. But she is even more age-inappropriate at interacting with other people's kids, considering she was a highly decorated investigator as a teen. Understanding violence and death is like a rite of passage, what do you mean talking about her last case is inappropriate for a toddler? She might, however, find having children, regardless of what parenthood looks like for an individual, to be a pathetic end to all their potential at anything else, which she does not want for herself and, while colored by her feelings about it, is not entirely incorrect considering domestic labor is a full-time job.
Matsumae - she might want children. Hell, she would die for the person she was essentially tasked with raising in canon. For that reason, though, she has decided that she is too committed to watching over the Tsukiyama family to have children of her own. Especially seeing Kanae's loyalty to the family waver out of devotion to one person in the Rose arc, she would fear becoming compromised like that and one day having to choose her child or her duty to the family. The best way to avoid that situation is to just not let anything else into her life that would even have a chance to become more important to her. For that reason, there is a sliver of a chance she would come around to it, whether one day she just wanted it so badly that she couldn't resolutely stay away from parenthood anymore or she had Tsukiyama and Mirumo's blessing. And how deliciously tragic would it be if her worst fears did indeed come true down the line? This is where the mind goes when you like Matsumae but also really like Kijima
Nico - not even a fav of mine, but I needed SOMEONE to be a yes. I don't know or care enough to decide whether he's somewhere under the trans umbrella, a fabulous fey man, or Just Nico, but either way I think he would call himself his child's mother, so I'm counting him. He would be a very loving mom, just not a stable, reliable one without actively giving up his pursuit of fun and shiny objects to fixate on. The younger years might be a whirlwind of affection and play and awe of how beautiful his child's innocent face is, but parenthood is the rest of your life if you're doing it right. Eventually, the novelty would wear off and something else would become his next thing. He has some moral compass and wouldn't cross the line into complete neglect, but I can see him becoming estranged from a child who realizes they don't want more gifts or cuddles or storytime when he is around-- they just want their mom to be around. Or he might continue to have a very happy relationship with them, but maybe not the most well-adjusted child in the end. Or a little bit of both, if he lives long enough to slow down and think about where he could have been a better mother, depending on how forgiving his child grows up to be.
Misato - also more of a character I want to like more than I do, but I'm including her so that I have some 'yes' characters on this list. We know in canon that she wants to be with one of few men more physically imposing than herself and be protected by a man she loves. My headcanon is that she also wants the white wedding and two kids part of her... what's the word... old-fashioned, I guess, fantasy. Maybe it's what makes sticking her with children more palatable to me, but I don't think (gross anyway so who cares) gender roles would be adhered to in her home like, at all. For one, she canonically can't cook and she just doesn't strike me as the detail-oriented type. Either her big protective husband cooks and cleans or that kid is going to grow up with a vast knowledge of takeout and TV dinners, and Mama Misato lifts them up on her shoulders (maybe she should be a twin mom and lift one on each shoulder) and teaches them how to protect themselves from bullies.
Big Madam - listen I KNOW you said fav and she's not one of mine either, but I spent a lot of time in my version of her head for my last big fic project and think it would surprise anyone who reads this that I actually don't think she wants to be a mother at all. Most of this is vibes in my head because she's not afforded that much depth in the series, but to me she wants to be a child, or at least she wants what she thinks it must be like to be a child who wasn't groomed to be the heiress of whatever company or industry makes her so wealthy and influential her whole life. I think 'mama' is just the terminology the Restaurant uses with human scrappers (Madam A and Taro use it too) rather than her actually wanting to be a mother. Whether she's playing dress-up with them, pitting them against other kids' toys, or cutting them into pieces, her scrappers aren't her children, but her outlet to experience the idea she's built up in her head of childish abandon. She's the little girl with no responsibilities or pressure and they're her toys.
Wonder if you have some Hairu to the Quinx headcanons
As in, how she would be with them?
I have some ideas 🤔
Firstly, while Hairu is pretty easygoing, I think she's very dedicated to her job and takes her position very seriously. Even if maybe she doesn't always want to. It's like a moral thing. And, I think maybe in part because of Arima, she would have a fondness for Haise, and would want to respect him if she were to ever work under him for some reason.
These people are similar to her in age, but I think behaviorally she may find that they feel eons apart. Not because she is not playful or can't have a good time, but because her upbringing didn't allow for the space to be disobedient. I think she would find Urie's behavior jarring and would be uncomfortable with it at kindest, and potentially combative at worst. I think, as the Quinx's superior (including Haise's), she would find Urie's insubordination incredibly disrespectful and I don't think she would sit on the observation, even if she didn't outright fight about it. I think both Haise and Urie would be a bit in trouble, in this regard.
I think she would want to push Tooru and see what he can do. She may even find herself curious as to what inspired such a ragtag team, and how it was decided they would have a leader with no leading experience. Was Haise doomed to fail? If not because of his lack of experience, then because of the biases his team has or may have against him? Haise is sweet, but that seems to be his downfall. He doesn't demand respect. There are no consequences for acting out, or being unable to do something. She may, in this mindset, push Tooru too hard, or find it frustrating that he insists he can't do what he needs to. It would be out of love though. She just wants to see him do well, for himself and for his team. I think she would try to be supportive of him and try to inspire confidence within him.
Saiko's slacking would also be weird to her. Weirder still would be Haise's allowance. This is not at all how her team is run, and while she can appreciate the laid back atmosphere - as anyone would - there comes a point where things simply aren't getting done. I do think, outside of that, she could have fun playing games with her, and I think personality-wise, they'd mesh well.
Shirazu means well and tries hard, so I think overall she would get along with him. While he's a bit reckless and needs reeled in just like the rest of them, he has great potential and is just easy to like. I think she could use her position above him to help keep him from straying into the Cause Problems on Purpose habit, and would largely be proud of him and his abilities.
As for Haise, I think beyond the shock and disapproval of his leniency, she would pity him. I wonder if she knows his story at all... She probably knows a little at least, considering Arima's involvement in his creation. I think she would see him as a sort of stray dog, one with great potential but isn't really cut out for the job he's been put in. I could see her trying to help, but issues can arise from someone else demanding you respect someone. Hard balance...
Inspired by your Lady Dillon & Lisa art I'd like to request a fic of Liscoe.
Perhaps they're girlfriends and are trying to like do like an amateur modeling/fashion photo shoot, just the two of them.
ooooo okay, fun!! 🤩 i'm so happy my drawing inspired your ask, that's super cool! 😎
here's a link to the aforementioned fanart for those who haven't seen it/want context.
this was a cute lil thing to write, thanks for requesting!! ❤️

lights, camera, KISS! | Golden Glider/The Top drabble
~ ✨ ~ 💚 ~ ✨ ~ 💚 ~
"Sugar, lift your leg up a little more..."
"Here?"
"Almost, almost, and... There!"
SNAP!
The shutter echoes in the near-empty studio. Light flashes, and when Lisa pulls away from the camera's viewfinder, she dazzles her beloved with a delighted smile. Even being upside-down on the set doesn't detract from the Top's enjoyment at seeing her girlfriend happy.
"Did the photo turn out good?" Roxanne asks, her dark eyes following Lisa's every move. Lisa shoots her a look as she deftly disconnects the camera from the tripod, pressing some buttons to look at the most recent picture taken. When the blonde finds it, she offers Roxanne a coy grin.
"Honey, with you, the picture's always good." Lisa purrs, walking over to her girlfriend. As Lisa sinks down to her knees in front of the Top, she sets the camera down and angles the lens at them both. Roxanne glances at it curiously, but turns her attention back to Lisa.
"I think you should say that about your photos." Roxanne replies, smiling into the kiss that Lisa presses against her emerald-painted lips. When Lisa pulls away, her icy blue eyes are alight with mirth.
"And sound so vain?" Lisa jokes, kissing her again before fiddling with the camera and pressing some buttons. She's about to set a timer when Roxanne snags her wrist, stopping her. Roxanne shifts, lifting up her upper half onto Lisa's lap.
"Rightfully so. You deserve to be admired." The Top murmurs, and as she drags Lisa in for a third kiss, the Golden Glider's hair falls like twin curtains around them both. It curls and flows like a river made of molten gold, shining just as bright. Roxanne catches a lock of it in her palm, curling the silk-esque hair around her fingers.
When she opens her eyes, Lisa is above her, backlit and glowing, like she's made of sun. In her pictures, Lisa had looked gorgeous (obviously), but the pictures couldn't hold a candle to the goddess of light before her person.
Roxanne Dillon, the Top, is a very lucky woman indeed.
"You are so beautiful, my love." Roxanne murmurs, her heart practically singing when Lisa places both gloved hands on her cheeks, the fur around her wrists tickling her ears. Lisa beams, easily outmatching the sun.
"You're so beautiful, honey." Lisa responds in turn, toying with Roxanne's top-shaped earrings. They kiss again, this time with a little less inhibition, and when they part (Roxanne somewhat breathless and Lisa victorious), Lisa laughs at the mess of red on her partner's brown skin.
"Oh no, I got green all over you!" Roxanne exclaims, just as Lisa gestures to her face and when Roxanne checks, her fingertips come back stained red. Lisa touches around on her own cheeks too, laughing when green starts to appear on her yellow gloves.
"Do you still want to take a photo together, Roxi?" Lisa asks through giggled, entirely unbothered, and judging by Roxanne's cheeky grin; She's unopposed as well. Without looking at or even touching the camera, the Top's telekinetic abilities angle the lens and sets a timer.
Lisa springs into action.
10...
Roxanne leaps up.
9...
They press close together.
8...
Lisa's toned, warm thigh crosses over Roxanne's lap.
7...
Roxanne wraps her arm tight around Lisa's waist.
6...
Bare fingers lace with gloved ones.
5...
Shoulders bump, Roxanne's dark hair tickles the nape of Lisa's neck and swirls down her pale collarbone.
4...
Lisa's shimmering arm catches the studio lights as she slithers her free hand down Roxanne's back.
3...
"I love you." Roxanne whispers, her lips millimeters from Lisa's.
2...
"I love you more." Lisa coos, the tip of her nose brushing Roxanne's.
1...
Nut brown eyes meet sky blue ones.
SNAP!
Their lips smush together in a mess of ruby and emerald, refracting the flash like gems.
One last picture, of them, just for them, color-smeared cheeks and all.
Honestly Merlin starting off as an antagonist seems interesting. Maybe her and Arrow could be aquaintances since she's a mage and she's an archer, that's like half your average D&D or rpg party.
Tho she's probably good hearted and soon turns against the Evangels. Wonder how her "Magic" power works , since I've seen her besides ice but also drawing with a light or maybe with a string of light
She would definitely get along well with Arrow. It would be fun to see them interact; since they both have quite calm and quiet personalities, neither of them talks much. As a team, they would probably be like when you see your friend and somehow your neurons connect, and even without speaking, you know what the other is thinking. They're balanced to work as a unit against challenges
But in the end, her destiny lies in the Eighth Division. So bad luck for Archer 🫂
Regarding Merlin's powers, since I'm a (veeeeery) indecisive person, I experimented and changed several things about them over time. At first, her pyrotechnic powers were going to be related to ice (similar to Karim Flam). But after studying it a bit and not coming up with an explanation that convinced me of how her abilities would work, I ✨️gave up✨️. In the end, I went with something else: threads. A skill like that can be incredibly versatile in the right hands: for capturing, attacking, moving, even as an emergency bandage—almost like magic 🪄⊹₊⟡⋆
BUTTTT she retains the ice thing in her personality: an unbothered ice queen brimming with knowledge ⋆꙳❅*‧ ‧*❆ ₊⋆
I'd like to hear about your cross setting WIPs. Like your thoughts, ideas, stuff
Hi! Thanks for asking :3
I spoke on From Y to Q in a few asks, linked here and here - and the Undead One Piece asks here and here
Since my ask game I haven't done much world building for either setting due to life/work/etc. but I do hope to continue working on them this summer!
Re From Y to Q - I feel like I want to show Kid what a toxic relationship looks like from the outside while also being quite a toxic shit himself, and how he deals with it. I feel like its a good opportunity for angst, feelings of toxic masculinity/machismo culture, and that's kinda what got me into thinking about the setting. Like yeah Q is a huge piece of shit, so how would Kid feel if he saw someone being treated like that. Would he even care? Would he act better or worse?
Re Undead One Piece - idk if I mostly wanted to focus on fun smut content, but there is potential for doing a doubles universe with them. I feel like Kid would be DEVASTATED about Spring's background, in my opinion, and would fight god themself. I also mentioned needing to re-read and re-watch undead unluck to get back into the mindset cause it has been a while.
Wonder who some of your like favorite characters interacting in a crossover you would like or what you think it'd be like. Like characters that Lupin, Undead Unluck or Tojima Kamen stuff or more that you like?
I already wrote the Lupin/Yakitate crossover years ago..... you can find it if you go looking for it but it's trapped on my ancient FF account for now <3
Lupin and UDUL are really easy to think up crossovers for because they're already on globe-trotting adventures! You can realistically pair them up with anybody, anywhere. You can even use a trick for Yakitate, if you want. "We're opening a new Pantasia branch in XYZ" and whatever characters you want can be put there to get it off the ground.
What I'd really like to see or make myself is a meeting of the meditating under waterfalls club..... whether on accident or on purpose
I know this is such a wierd turn from something as lore heavy and important as Zarakis mum into a basically an ask about my crackship
But you have given me some thoughts, I could be misremebering but I believe she was present as a Soul Reaper when it happend.
Meninas x Isane
With the extra context of Isane being there when the whole Quincy purge was going down. I know it's such a wierd thing to add to a relationship but Isane is such like a truly good girl otherwise not counting this not so fun fact. And from Menis whole attitude, she doesn't seem the type to care? Like Bambi and Candice seemed vengeful of the Shinigami in their actions, Giselle may also have been, however rather seemed to be in her in her own sort of mental wonderland and acted horrifically, Liltotto also seemed somewhat detached but appeared to hold many ambitions of power. But Meninas seemed like she really was just flowing with the ocean going through the motions of being a Quincy knight, doing her job killing and being killed. Like I don't know, there's something there but I've no idea how to properly word or construct it.
Maybe I'm misinterpreting your comment (my meds kicked in), but Isane wasn't there during the Quincy purge. She's from a younger generation (my thoughts is she's contemporary to Rangiku and Gin, and older than Hisagi)
Whether she was aware of the purge being the gotei's doing or not, I can't really say because at some point Yamamoto removed that part of history from the academy's curriculum, and judging by some of the younger officers' reactions, it seems a great deal of them didn't know why they were being invaded (hell, in the story proper, they didn't know what a Quincy was at ALL until Rukia met Uryu and asked Urahara about his origins)
And as for Meninas, she also comes from a future generation. Unfortunately there's not enough info on the Quincy faction, on how time passes for them within the shadows of Soul Society/Wandenreich, let alone at what point was Meninas recruited to the Sternritter, or if she was even born in the Wandenreich, or if she got picked up from some settlement outside like Jugram and Bazz-B were.
All I can say for certain is: she definitely knew what went down between shinigami and Quincy during the first Blood War, definitely learned about the purge, but didn't know about Yhwach's true goals and nature.
Plus, the way the Sternritter works in a very militant, despotic, dog eat dog type of way. Each member acts as a surveillance unit to watch for any bad behavior from their companion and immediately report anomaly/treasonous action; mistakes are paid for with lives, the schrift users get picked personally by Yhwach, either by Pious Means like Äs Nödt was (as pious as a tyrant like Yhwach can be, anyway. A death sentence disguised as a second chance at life), or by force like Bazz-B was (forced to watch his home burn, become alienated from his closest and only friend and basically dehumanize him so bad until he's begging to join the ranks with the promise of a chance to kill the man that ruined him as bait.)
We're not told how the femritters were recruited, but it's certain they had no choice in the matter and, like all the rest of their compatriots, they had to make the best of their situation with what they had at hand.
In a Q&A session, Kubo couldn't really call the femritters friends because the sentiment depends on what each of them thinks of the others at the moment. They're the closest thing to a team within the Sternritter, but they're still terribly imbalanced because they won't hesitate to be at each other's throats.
Meninas is perhaps the chillest of the 5, and though she plays into the role of dumb muscle, she's actually someone that only wants some peace and quiet (as shown by the Brave Souls side stories). She dislikes it when people talk about her behind her back, HATES it when they underestimate her (Rukia was at the receiving end of her ire), and does show a level of camaraderie for her fellow femritters as she helps a wounded Candice around. And she was well liked enough by Liltotto as the latter cannibalizes Pepe for brainwashing her.
The attitude difference between Isane and Meninas is that, while both can't afford to stop and think about their situations during the war, Isane's investment in keeping casualties to a minimum not only stem from her duty as the current leader of the 4th, but also because many of those wounded and dead are her friends and companions. Meanwhile, Meni has to rain destruction cause that's her job, and if she doesn't, she's gonna get horribly punished by her own faction.
We don't know what level of angst Meni feels herself since she's never shown individually, but being a Quincy under Yhwach's command is already a miserable position to be in.
And since they're on opposite ends of the war, whatever interaction they could have had would have been cutting and brief.
Not exactly related to my prev ask, but I've also been a cheerleader of the Isane as THE tall and muscular woman agenda (Technically Meninas is bigger and stronger, but that's like Magic spell based muscle, Isas on that high excerise muscle Healer mentality and it could serve as like a contrasting look, maybe in a better world for Bleach she could've been her own personal "final boss" so to say)
Ñehehehe Meninas/Isane is also a pairing I like because of the "there's a taller woman than Isane and she has none if the angst but she's also meaner when tested >:3" reasons. would have loved to see a showdown between them, even if short lived.
Isane is also confirmed to be pretty physically strong ("an imposing frame that betrays her gentle demeanor" and a recent Q&A session revealed she broke a wooden sword with her bare hands to chase off a creeper that was harassing Kiyone during their academy days), the only reason why she's not seen that way is cuz she's within the vicinity of Super Strong And Scary Freak Of Nature Unohana.
One of my delusions about the 4th division in general is that, tho combat may not be their specialty, they're all a very sturdy bunch. This is true with Hanataro, who didn't cover his ears when Mayuri set off that paralyzing scream during the fight with Pernida, and survived. Isane also took Ashisogi Jizo's venom to the face and survived longer than enough to serve as a living container for a sample to research an antidote. She's eventually gonna walk off the crater Lille Barro put thru her and become Captain, so. It checks out 😌
