as someone who read les mis just this summer, it is actually... not as daunting as it first appears? once you get over victor hugo's propensity to go off on one about literally ANYTHING, the main story is pretty engaging, and hugo can be quite witty when he wants to be. plz do livetweet though, would like to hear your real-time thoughts about javert and his mancrush on val jean. (also thanks for your les mis recs! they were exactly what I needed after finishing the book...)
