S: “Wouldn’t mushroom crowns have made more sense?”
K: “Setsu you know those don’t exist”
S: “The internet would beg to differ”
-----------------------------------------------
Hey! I missed Day 1 but here’s my piece for Day 2 of @1-bshipweek :plants! I did flower crowns bc y’know, they cute
I’m planning on doing Setsumori the whole week so i’m posting here instead of my main art blog but it’s mintiimagi if you wanna check it out! I don’t have much there but I post more stuff on Insta if you wanna follow me there, same username
Thank you, I try! Also I can’t draw real kisses yet (they’re more complicated than you think) but I hope this hand kissu will suffice for now
also this is actually a sketch of one of my pieces for 1b-ship-week! Its an au im working on (bonus points if you know the fandom). I’m hoping i’ll have enough time to stick a background on it (although it started today so im already a little behind;;)
I might make some tweaks tho bc it looks a little too close to my reference and I don’t want to seem like I traced it;;
So someone sent me an ask to do a Hanahaki disease Au with a pairing I like. Had to ask some friends from discord what that was, apparently it’s unrequited love makes flowers grow in your body. Which sounds terrible but I guess that’s the point. I kinda lost the ask though cause I’m not that smart, oops 😅. Hope y'all like 😄.
Most people were flowers. Carnations, Hibiscus, Azaleas, and more of all kinds of colors and with their own beauty. She thought for sure Komori would be a Rose, or Cherry Blossom. Something small and beautiful just like her. And yet Setsuna wasn’t surprised at all when instead of flowers it was mushrooms. Mushrooms of all sizes overflowed in her jittery hands and littered the floor around her feet.
She had hoped it wouldn’t be so. That the incessant beating in her chest whenever Komori was around didn’t mean that she loved her. That the admiration and pride she felt for the small girl didn’t mean love. It would be so much easier if it didn’t ‘it would be so much easier’ Setsuna thought as she fell to her knees and cried. The rest of the mushrooms spilling from her hands and onto the floor as she brought them up to hide her anguish.
It wasn’t loving Komori that was causing her pain though, it was the simple fact that Komori did not love her. Was it truly simple? No, not at all. But it was a fact, Setsuna saw the proof with her own eyes.
~~~
Even though Setsuna realized her feelings for Komori just last night she was more then ready to do something about them. Not one to hesitate or wait when she wanted something the lizard girl hurried to reach the spot they were meant to meet at after classes let out. But her excited jog turned into a slow walk when she heard whispers followed by loud, rough coughing.
“Komori?!” Setsuna rounded the corner with a concerned look on her face, only to stop suddenly and feel her heart drop at the sight before her. There Komori stood facing Setsuna with a startled expression, as if she didn’t expect to see Setsuna, however Setsuna couldn’t see her eyes, like usual, so she wouldn’t be able to accurately gauge what that expression meant. What she could see, however, were black flowers, perhaps roses? Littering the grass around her.
Komori was the only one here, the black flowers had hints of blood on them, black roses. Black like..
“S-Setsuna-chan, wait!”
She didn’t listen, she just ran. All the way to the dorms, all the way to her room. Coughing violently as soon as she shut the door.
Komori didn’t love her.
~~~
So lost in her pain she was that she didn’t even hear the knock on her door or the sad whispered “Setsuna?” that followed it. She didn’t hear it open, or the light footsteps approaching her from behind. Didn’t hear the soft gasp of “I’m so sorry, Setsuna.”
But she did feel a thin pair of arms wrap around her from behind. Feel the press of something small and round into her back. It was enough to cause her to stop and catch her breath as she tried to see who was behind her.
“Who?!”
“I-it’s me.”
No, not her! Anyone but her right now please!
“Did you need something?” Setsuna responded with uncharacteristic coldness in her voice. For a moment everything was silent until Komori finally spoke up.
“What you saw, those roses, they weren’t mine.”
The lizard girl furrowed her brow in confusion. “What?”
“T-those roses, weren’t mine, I-I didn’t cough them up.”
This time Setsuna managed to turn so she was kneeling in front of Komori, both facing each other. “Y-you didn’t?!”
instead of responding, the small girl reached a hand out to caress Setsuna’s cheek. “You were crying?”
Setsuna tried to look anywhere but at Komori “I thought you loved someone.”
“Why would that make you cry?” The mushroom girl asked despite the obviousness of the mushrooms around them.
This time she met Komori's… eyes? “Because, I love you.”
The hesitant but determined tone in her voice causes Komori to hold her breath for a few moments before reaching into her coat pocket and pulling out a small fuzzy looking plant. Setsuna studied it for a moment before asking “What’s that?”
“I-I had to look it up, it’s called a Lizard’s Tail.” Setuna’s heart rate started to speed up. “You mean?”
“I love you too, Setsuna.” Not wanting to waste another second, Setsuna lunged forward to capture those small, sweet lips with her own. Komori loved her, she really loved her, and oh god did it make her happy…wait.
Setsuna pulls away quickly “Then wh-mmph.” mushroom girl laughs sweetly before closing the distance again. Not allowing the lizard girl time to finish.
(Hope y’all like it. And that the person who asked can see it ^^;)
