Is it strange that I never seen the arrogance that some people talk about seungri. Even when I first saw him on variety show without knowing anything about him. I somehow saw it more like words he say to make him look strong or make him feel better. Idk, I can't find the arrogance especially in his eyes. I love looking at his eyes so much when he talks, it looks really sincere. But idk that that kind of persona is disliked by many. I think many take it literally while he seems just joking.

I believe what outsider people take as arrogance (not VIPs because they should know Seungri better) is the way he always compliments himself and ravishes in others complimenting him. Beside the way he looks so haughty at the camera sometimes. People meeting Seungri for the first time and hearing him say things like ‘I want to date myself’, ‘I give myself 20 out of 20′, ‘I look awesome’ or ‘I am one of the visuals’ would definitely read it as arrogance and cocky attitude.

It really takes a while for non-VIPs to get that he’s either joking or that’s just his way of encouraging and pushing himself forward.

He’s not well-respected/viewed in YG compared to other BigBang members. He’s not well promoted like the others either.

i just read your anwer to anon who asked if koreans like ri. Can i ask your opinion in a few things then? Is his popularity in korea getting better because of his looks or voice improvement mostly?Do you think there's a connection to seungri being so quiet in recent variety shows (i.e running man ? and also he keeps getting his parts cut in shows, not only variaty but also music shows, they either zoom out or focus other members in his parts sometimes, could it be related to his bad reputation?

Although his recent looks and improvements play a part but they’re not enough to upgrade your image with the public. People support him because they know he works hard no matter how down he feels. Something else plays a major part is the fact that he matured a lot ever since his ‘Let’s Talk about Love’ album. He still has that playful side but his actions became so adult-like. Even his BB members pointed that they don’t have to tell him what to do anymore, that he matured a lot and they don’t worry about him like they used to.

As for the cut parts in variety shows, I believe they really wanted to focus on the other members because Seungri’s known as variety king amongst his teammates. They needed to give the silent ones (like Taeyang, GD and TOP) some spotlight. Also, in RM, have you seen the way he was in that car race? He was clearly uncomfortable with the whole thing. It hasn’t been a long time since his accident anyway.

In the end, we can’t really have everything. In this comeback, Seungri’s parts increased noticeably (and that’s something I am quite thankful for) so even if they cut him off in other stuff, it can’t be helped. At least, he’s the freaking mood maker and the soul of BigBang in ALL of their MADE tour concerts.

Is it true that Seungri has a bad reputation in Korea?

I think he has a bad reputation among the anti-fans^^ BIGBANG does not have a “good” image, they are known for being boys that drink, smoke, go to clubs, have girlfriends, but also create music. People often say that BIGBANG is leading young people astray^^ For Seungri, it is quite well known that he has had more girlfriends than most Korean men, so that is often talked about, and a lot of Korean men are really jealous of him. I think many BIGBANG anti-fans will say bad things about Seungri more often because he is not the most popular member, but they are not really aimed at Seungri. So it is not really something to worry about, for BIGBANG a “bad” reputation really helps their main image, which is the musician image. I would be quite frightened if they became “good” boys all of a sudden!
