hi! i've seen some of your published asks before about Summer@Brown precollege, and I wanted to ask some questions. Did you go there in high school, and if so, how is the experience socially, educationally, and altogether? I'm Claudia and i'm taking Neuroscience in Health and Disease, although I wanted to take Abnormal Psychology but it interfered with other plans i had this summer
oh hi! sorry for the late reply, i’ve been incredibly busy lately.
i went to summer@brown the summer before my senior year of high school. i personally thought it was an incredibly enriching experience. you have the opportunity to meet people from all over the states/occasionally different countries. also i had never been up north (+ i go here now), so my opinion is obviously incredibly biased. but i can definitely tell you i met some of the greatest people at summer@brown, which i still keep in contact with.
my psychology class was really great. as someone who was incredibly interested in the subject, yet never had an opportunity to take a class on it in high school, my professor gave a great overview of human behavior and helped me realize that i am really interested in clinical work. if there’s a subject that you’re interested, i really recommend taking a class in it. neuroscience is awesome. i took neuro1 my freshman year, so i know whoever is teaching that class (maybe stein?) will be great. obviously, you know the teachers care about these subjects if they’re teaching it during the summer.
altogether, summer@brown is fantastic. it gives you a chance to get to know rhode island (especially because you get free RIPTA passes with your ID) and providence. it also gives you a look of what college will be like. definitely take advantage of your time here, and i hope you enjoy it!
