"Don’t let me die"
"I’ll die before I let that happen." His words come off more of a shaky exhalation, and under the same breath, he curses himself for being so emotional in this situation. But someone has to take control, and it had to be him. "Don’t talk like that."
"Hey, Buck. It's been a while."
"Hah, yeah." He managed to stumble out, his eyes glossy with fresh tears. His eyes scanned over Curtis, taking in his pristine MCCUU's and wondering how on Earth he had managed to keep them so perfect when he was training for long and treacherous hours. The Marines were no joke and Bucky was fully aware, so when he gazed up at his face he smiled sadly at how completely worn out his expression was.
What surprised him most was his nonchalant approach at the airport, whispering a small response that had taken him aback. If it weren't for Bucky's immediate surprise, he would have jumped on him by now.
"It's been a long six months, Curtis." He whispered, walking closer to him and felt his breathing become unsteadier with each step. Bucky reached out to grasp his hand to make sure that all of this was quite real. "I've missed you like crazy."
