SEVERANCE — 1.08 "What's for Dinner?" × 2.07 "Chikhai Bardo"
Guys, he was coming up the stairs. He rose up from the darkness hearing her. He was walking up the steps, listening, and then she was quiet and he turned around.
Guys, he turned around.
Oh Orpheus oh no
You think about all the things you'd do, and all the ways you'd change to get that person back. You'd drink less.
You'd listen more.
CONFUSION 👥
DID ANYONE SEE THE NAME OF MARK AND GEMMAS CRIB????!!!!!!
COL D’ARBOR
I’m gonna be sick
I'm sorry.
about mark and his personality of running away from things.. using severance and the police officers
It's so wonderful that they've built characters who are so inherently people. They have traits, they are consistent in their underlying actions, they are horrible and they mess up and GOSH just perfection
my favorite thing is Mark and his personality of running away from things. We see it very often - and its pointed out on multiple occasions, that he chose to get Severance so he could escape the pain of his wife's death for a few hours a day.
I can't find the visual of it but at the end of s2 ep7 we get the scene where the police officers are walking up to the door. We already know its to deliver the news that Gemma died, but what stood out to me was Mark's reaction.
He knew something was off, and he was extremely slow getting to the door. When he sees the police officers, you can see the moment he recognizes and understands what it means. But I feel like I've absolutely seen moments in tv where people lunge for the door or swallow and open it or come face to face with the truth.
But Mark literally just backs away the second he knows because he doesn't want to hear it or see it or feel it. Even more important is the LIGHTING!!! (god I love this show) he backs into the darkness of the house, backing away from not only the light, but the truth, the pain, the reality of his world.
He does this so many times during the show when faced with something he doesn't like or is unwilling to deal with and that is running away - he uses Severance, creates distance with his family, with his feelings, he puts Gemma's stuff in boxes and shoves things in there and in the corner when they're taken out.
over and over and over again Mark runs away
I better NOT see a Mark/Gemma/Helena miscommunication arc where Gemma makes it out and then Helena does something that makes her think that Dr. Creepo was telling the truth about Mark moving on
