I think my current take right now is this: Percy Jackson should have been an animated series.
If they were trying to make a piece of media that could be watched on screens, and have it be as close to the books as possible, an animated series would have done the job much better than any live action could.
Please note there is NO shade to the current live action series - I'm simply commenting on some of the gripes we've seen in the adaptation.
There will never be a perfect book to movie adaptation - its literally impossible. So many people who read books have different interpretations of scenes, characters, settings, and more - so you cannot make everyone happy. Shows, Films, and Books all do different things. They are different forms of art.
But live action brings in limitations - casting (especially the age of actors and the struggles with character age and the growth of the actor.. this comes into play when filming takes years but the storyline doesn't.), VFX and CGI effects, green screen, etc.
Animation lends a hand to this - you are relying purely on voice from an actor standpoint and the rest is up to the animators, so Percy could look 12 years old for the entire year, no mater how long it takes to film. You can also draw and conceive things that require no green screen, or elaborate sets. You simply want a 12 food Cyclops and you can just... draw one.
I will admit though, live action shows have their own charm, and there's a reason they are so popular. It's just fun to see characters in real life and not as drawings! All I'm saying is if Rick Riordan and the team wanted to create a show that was accurate to the books, animation may have been a fun choice! It would've been interesting to see at the very least :)
This documentary is basically watching 2 straight hours of the duffers arguing with each other
It's nice to know there was a sane writer in the room who brought up the fact that the final fight needed to have demos and bats in it.. for it to make sense
So personally one of my favorite moments from the documentary was when Ross said "I haven't even read episode 8 all the way through"
as they are actively shooting it
and it pans over to the crew, specifically one lady, who's just got this baffled oh what the fuck look on her face
they are like us

So many gems from the Stranger Things season 5 documentary that I don't even know where to begin
"We went into production without having a finished script for the finale"
Yeah buddy we could tell
(some Stranger Things S5 spoilers)
Watching the Stranger Things 5 Documentary and I am BAFFLED
WITHIN THE FIRST T W O MINUTES THESE ARE THE WORDS THE DUFFERS SAY
Matt: "It's terrifying because you see these shows that people love and adore, and the ending falters. And they just discard the rest of the show."
Ross: "You can't leave anything dangling. You have to wrap everything up.
Now you can argue as much as you'd like about the finale and the overall season 5 of stranger things - I have my opinion and you have yours.
but you CANNOT deny that they quite LITERALLY did EXACTLY THIS
Opinions aside - you have to admit that they loaded so many guns that didn't fire, opened so many questions they didn't answer and left so. much. dangling.
How did El recognize Will in the picture?
What happened with the painting that Will gave Mike, why isn't that acknowledged at all?
And also (SPOILER)
THEY LEGITIMATELLY SAY MULTIPLE TIMES "Oh well I guess thats for the viewers to decide."
THATS.... THATS LITERALLY LEAVING THINGS DANGLING AND NOT WRAPPING THINGS UP????
AM I INSANE???
I'm sorry, but "kids' minds being weak and easy to mold" does not work with me as an excuse as to why Will was taken. It could be why a kid was taken, but this particular kid gave Vecna the slip for days. He escaped a demogorgon multiple times, including, somehow that they still haven't explained, right after it snatched him into the Upside Down in the first place. He ran and hid for nearly a week without food, water, or a safe place to rest.
I understand that they didn't really think ahead in the story at the time they made season 1, but they still need to make it coherent with season 1.
If I'm Vecna, I'm cutting my losses and going after someone else. This kid clearly isn't worth the trouble.
Unless, for some reason we've also not been told, he is worth it. Will never seemed like some random victim. He was targeted, stalked and hunted. Maybe his powers, not the ones from Vecna or the hivemind, really are innate and something Vecna wanted.
I know there's questions about how good at writing the Duffers actually are, but are they so bad that they're leaving massive plot holes everywhere?
s5 really felt like
volume 1: go white boy go
volume 2: no white boy not like that
volume 3: white boy i've never seen anyone fuck it up like that
I could literally not explain it better
"I Am Not Okay With This" was criminally underrated and deserved a second season.
I fear that once I watch sts5 I will be INSUFFERABLE.
prepare yourselves 😝😝
lets play a little game called how many social media platforms can I successfully avoid for the next week until I can sit down and watch stranger things 5
hey! friendly advice!
never EVER watch "I'm thinking of ending things" on netflix
never!
~ I really can't help but wonder WHAT Rory's life could have been like
There are so many points in the show that change her pathway drastically, some maybe not so much, but it is really interesting to think about, specificalyl
When she drops out of Yale and spends time in the DAR - (this one I don't think affects her SO much, but it is something to think about)
When she turns down the ProJo job to go for the Reston Fellowship
When she turns down Logan's proposal
And a direct offshoot of the last one, having her pick of newspapers
I think when we grew up watching Rory we fully expected her to be set up for life. She had the drive, she had the skills, she certainly had the resume (I mean.. I think interning under Mitchum Huntzberger would be a huge leg up).
So it feels entirely weird to see her struggling later on in her life! Especially with her affair with Logan and her lack of money when she absolutely still has her Grandmother (and I am absolutely certain that Richard would have left her SOMETHING) and she has her (still realistically loaded) Father??
Saja boys literally made it to the Idol Awards with ONE SONG
Huntr/x had been 5 year consecutive winners but what happened to all the other groups that were supposedly also "competing" at this time 😭😭
imagine you debut a new album and it does SO well and you're on your way to the idol awards to compete with HUNTR/X and then freaking SAJA BOYS with ONE ASS SONG beat you out because of some random freak interest ???
they debuted their "Your Idol" song AT THEIR OWN CONCERT. AFTER. THE IDOL AWARDS.
"Artist Of The Year " "Best New Artists" "Song of the Year" "World Wide Icon of the Year"
WITH ONE SONG??!?!
TF 😭😭
I would've been SO PISSED
