I have a serious bone to pick with Pokemon Shuffle
For those of you who don't know what I'm talking about, Pokemon Shuffle is essentially a Pokemon skin for Candy Crush. That's literally all it is, and it's for mobile phones and the 3DS for free. HOWEVER, it does offer micro transactions which piss me off greatly. Explaining the entire gameplay of it would take forever so I'm gonna try and ballpark it. Every "battle" you start costs a heart, you have 5 hearts max at any given time. There are also coins which you get after completing levels and you can spend them on useful powerups. If you run out of hearts entirely, it takes 30 minutes to recharge one heart so you're essentially stuck for 2 and a half hours to get all 5. For the most part, battling a Pokemon is a relatively fun and challenging experience but catching a Pokemon is where I draw the line. Apart from an absurd capture rate as the plot demands (seriously, how the fuck does a Pichu have a lower catch rate than Togepi?), it is entirely random luck and chance. And I fucking loathe luck based elements in my games. I have the shittiest luck in the world, the only thing it's good for is keeping me alive even when I want to die. I had a Kangaskhan evade capture with an 86% catch probability. Oh and if you fuck up a capture? If you have 3500 coins (I think it's a slightly more reasonable 2500 coins on the 3DS version) you can try again with a Great Ball for better odds. Don't have that many coins cause we're fucking assholes that barely give you 100 coins per completion of a level? You can buy a jewel using real life money which you can exchange for coins. Don't wanna spend money? Fuck you. Seriously it drives me up a fucking wall. And they regularly throw special events where you can get rare, usually legendary Pokemon for a limited time. Too bad if you haven't been playing for months before the event so you have a decent team. All I want is to catch a fucking Mew, is it really that much to ask for?
