#sewing machine troubleshooting

Sewing machine troubleshoot question.

So the bobbin thread started bunching. When I lower my needle to catch the bobbin thread and then pull on the end of the upper thread to help the bobbin thread up I am getting some kind of resistance. I literally have to turn the handwheel for it to pop up. Its like the thread is trapped, though whether its actually the bobbin thread or the upper threat remains to be seen. 

I changed needles and cleaned out the bobbin area to no avail, internet research says that the hook timing might be off if its the bobbin thread. 

Idk, has anyone had that problem before? 

I spent like $60 on this machine so I'm not exactly interested in taking it in to be serviced for potentially the whole cost.

Tips from the service man:

Re-thread the (top) thread: make sure you get EVERY thread guide.

Check the thread tension: (default by the service man: 4)

Clean under needle plate, bobbin area, bobbin hook.

Check the bobbin, take off, re-insert

Check the needle: make sure the flat side is facing the back of the machine and it is inserted to it's highest position.

Still not working, maybe your needle is bent. Try a new needle and hope for a miracle.

If all fails call the service man.heheheh
