today is the 3rd anniversary of the Sewol Ferry Disaster. and those who sing the song 'we never forget' in the video are the families of the victims. I took this video at the candlelight rally held on the 300th day since farmer Nam-ki Baek was hit by high-powered water police water cannons and went into coma. so many things happened since then -- flower-like lives of people still got taken away; President Park has been impeached; and the Sewol ferry has finally been lifted. so many things are changing. nevertheless, we won't forget, we will never forget, and we will always remember. _ 今日でセウォルフェリー転覆事故からちょうど3年になりました。動画で「絶対忘れない」という歌を唄っているのはそのセウォル事故で愛する家族を亡くされた遺族たちが結成した合唱団。それに私がこの動画を撮ったのは去年の夏、韓国警察の水大砲に撃たれたペク・ナムギさんが昏睡状態に陥ってから300日目に行われたろうそく集会でです。それから本当に色んなことが起きました。花のような命を失った人々、朴大統領の弾劾、そしてセウォル号の引き上げ… 全てのことが変わっていくような気がしても、この歌のように、忘れない、絶対忘れない、そしてきっと記憶する。 _ 오늘이 벌써 세월호 3주기. 위의 동영상에서 '잊지 않을게'란 노래를 부르시는 분들은 다름 아닌 세월호 유가족 분들이시다. 내가 이 영상을 찍은게 작년 여름 백남기 어르신이 혼수상태에 빠지신지 300일 째 되는 날 열린 촛불집회에서 였었나. 그 이후로 참 많은 일들이 있었다. 여전히 꽃 같은 목숨을 잃은 사람들이 있었고, 박 대통령이 탄핵 되었고, 세월호가 드디어 인양되었다. 그리고 참 많은 것들이 변한다. 그럼에도 불구하고, 잊지 않을게, 절대로 잊지 않을게, 꼭 기억할게. _ #sewol #sewolferrytragedy #416 #sewolferry

I dedicate these yellow ribbons to the victims of Sewol Ferry in South Korea. It's been 4 years since the tragedy occured. Gone but forever etched in mind. 세월호 참사 3년 기억식. 모두가 눈으로 보면서도 믿기 힘들었던, 재앙에 가까운 참사 이후 3년의 시간이 흘렀고 많은 일들이 있었다. 배는 이제야 뭍으로 끌어 올려졌고, 가장 먼저 희생자 앞에 무릎꿇고 사과해야 했던 이들은 그 엄중한 책임을 묻는 자리에 다시 올려진다. 비통함과 부끄러움, 안타까운 마음을 되새기며 사람들은 각자의 방식으로 추모와 애도를 한다. 긴 줄을 서서 분향소에서 참배를 하는 사람들, 몸에 노란 리본과 노란 수건을 달고 찾아온 사람들, 글과 그림으로 위로와 슬픔의 메시지를 남기는 사람들, 재발 방지와 책임자 처벌을 약속하는 대선 주자들... 우리가 가야할 길은 아직도 멀었다. 인두껍을 쓰고 하지 말아야 할 말들을 쏟아내는 비상식적인 인간들을 보며 분노를 느끼지만, 동시에 함께 하는 우리를 보며 희망을 느낀다. 철저한 소외와 무관심 속에 소리 없이 죽어가는 사람들이 더이상은 없기를... 바라고 기도합니다.🎗 #세월호 #3년 #20140416 #sewol #tragedy #sewolferrytragedy #korea #neveragain #prayforsouthkorea (안산 화랑유원지 세월호 희생자 합동분향소에서)
