"I'm going to need a drink. Or several."
Did you miss the sign? || Jo / Open
Jo had her back to the door, looking for a bottle of bourbon when she heard the door swing open. It was bad enough she had to work with only a couple hours of sleep, but the Grill was, as usual, packed. "You can't be back here, it's employees only." she said, looking over her shoulder.
So many nuisances in this town, yet not enough nerves.
Some things were impossible to explain. There were times where one simply felt something and knew. As Jason had felt that chill, the freezing of his insides once the lights went out and he was left in the dark, surrounded by street lights that no longer provided illumination. The sensations rippling throughout his body resembled those he had been submitted to the night he lost his family to a demon attack. And thus, he knew. Words could not explain, but he knew.
It was as though he were suffering his loss all over again, the secret of their deaths suddenly weighing on him; weighing far more than he could bear. So Jason sat on the pavement, wind howling around him and squeezed his eyes shut. Be a man about it. The words played on his mind on repeat like a mantra.
And you are interrupting my 11 AM feeding why?

Jo was just finishing up locking the grill up for the night when the power cut. Slightly alarmed, she straightened slowly and looked around. Being that there was no one else in the building, the young hunter assumed it must have been an outage. That was until she went outside anyway.
The dark night sky was full of what would appear to the average person as thick, and dark billowing clouds of a smoke like substance. They swivelled and turned in a way that made Jo’s stomach twist. She was one of the few in the town that knew what they were really dealing with; demons.
She only remained frozen for a moment before taking off, running down the streets of Mystic Falls, searching for anyone who may be in trouble. Her bag bounced against her hip while her feet pounded the pavement, and Jo tried hopelessly to call anyone else who may know what had cause the sudden outbreak. Her fingers crushed the buttons on her cell phone, only to find that there was no service. It was then she realized just how many people in the small town she did care about. Swearing under her breath, she kept moving.
Much to her confusion, Jo found most of the streets completely empty. Not a cry to be heard, or a drop of blood to have hit the pavement. Stopping to catch her breath, the young girl looked in all directions. Surely she couldn’t have imagined anything, this had to be happening. While she tried to come to terms with just what she was hoping to resolve, she heard a blood curdling scream.
She didn’t waste a second running towards the sound. Throwing herself over a chain link fence and ignoring the pain that ripped through her obviously torn open thigh, she continued until she came to where the scream had originated. Her voice echoed down the street as she shouted, “Where are you? I can help!”

The map crumpled in her hands was becoming more and more confusing as Jo wandered past a cemetery and back towards the woods she’d just come out of. Muttering to herself she threw one leg over a fallen tree and landed on the other side, muscles aching from hiking through thick brush. Apparently the trails were a little harder to find than she’d originally thought.
It was starting to get late and Jo was beginning to worry about what would happen if she was still out here and the sun went down. Although she didn’t want to have to call Sam, she was starting to think she might have to. She was staying put, struggling with her decision when she heard a bunch of crashing behind her. The blonde quickly scanned her brain for just what might be in the woods around this time. It wasn’t anywhere near a full moon, so she could only guess it was something natural. Her hand flew to the pistol strapped under her jacket and the few stray bullets in her pocket. A quick decision left her to keep moving rather than stop and wait out who ever, or whatever, would happen to be behind her.
A small clearing seemed the logical spot to stop, and jo sat on the ground for quite some time, map outstretched in her lap and humming to herself before realizing someone else was occupying the same space. “Sorry, I didn’t see you there.”
Mystic Falls, home sweet home.
