This is an overview of a prequel of the previously posted “Not Complaining”. John and Sherlock knew each other in uni before a fight separated them to the horrors of war and drugs.
John is sent back to London to finish his final year at uni to be fully certified as an RAMC field surgeon. His advisor recommends he get a tutor to get back into the swing of things. The tutoring center only has one tutor left. Sherlock is only tutoring because it is required. After blowing up another chemistry classroom, it was the only way Mycroft could keep the university from throwing his little brother out on his ass. A bit of juggling and misunderstanding and they hit it off. Sherlock goes to see him play recreational rugby with former classmate Mike and new friend Greg. Sherlock is 22. John is 26. Mike (intern/resident at St Bart’s) is also 26. Greg (new cop) is 29. Mycroft is almost 29. After a week, Sherlock offers his spare room to get John out of the loud, crowded dorm. Sherlock meets Victor near the end of John’s time in uni. Starts on drugs. Huge blow up between John and Sherlock the night before the soldier is to board a plane for Afghanistan. Sherlock will come to regret it for several years. Really the only thing he regrets.
