San Francisco experienced a major power outage this weekend, with an estimated 130,000 customers affected at the peak—around 30% of the city. The outage has been linked to a fire at a substation near 8th & Mission, which caused significant damage and complicated repairs. Beyond the loss of power, the city felt it through dark traffic signals, disrupted transit, and businesses slowing down or closing temporarily. As of the latest update, about 110,000 customers have been restored, while roughly 21,000 are still without electricity as crews work to fully stabilize service.
