Og Overlord finding Shattered Glass Fortress Maximus and Overlord.
Anyways SG Fort Max in between the two Overlords
(I can imagine the Overlords argueing with each other because even if they’re both sadistic they have wildly different views. Indulgence vs repression. Too bad SG Fort Max is too fucked out of his mind to care, oops)
Dynamic wise many fun opportunities!!
In general, sooo many fun ways to go about shattered glass Fortress Maximus depending on how close we stick to baseline and where we diverge backstory wise, and really such a nice scene between him and baseline Overlord
Looking big and scary didn’t always mean being big and scary, but alas, Overlord had gotten used to the assumption.
It was difficult for him to wrap his helm around the thought process, but he tried his best to do so anyways. After all, what better sign of a sweet and lovable mech than one who was willing to meet others halfway and find a good, comfortable compromise? He didn’t ever fully understand, but boy, did he try. It was just difficult, plain and simple.
Size was an intimidating factor to much smaller bots when you were as big a mech as he was, and the factionless loners were never perceived as warmly as those with an insignia burned into their frame. Overlord still tried to understand, just as much as he had tried to choose a side, but at the end of the day, it simply wasn’t meant to be.
He was sweet—a little too sweet for his own good, but he was sweet. He was shy, too, but he did his very best to put himself out there and shine the brightest smile he could to whoever passed him by. It was the smile, he supposed, that did him in. No one had ever taken too kindly to him with that expression on his face, no matter how approachable he tried to make himself seem.
Overlord struggled, but struggling was just falling short of success. Despite his failures, he kept at it. It was hard to change a bot’s mind when they had already made up their opinion about him and his plump, pink, and apparently petrifying appearance. He could never seem to grasp what about him was so off-putting, but he tried his best anyways.
Sometimes his best was just enough to get him through. Other times… not so much. It was lonely out in the world when you were a big mech with a big spark running solo, and Overlord didn’t so much as have a proper set of friends, let alone house company to keep him occupied. It’s where his first big stepping stone appeared, and the second merely came by coincidence.
Lonely mechs had to find something to keep them busy, too. As it turned out, food was the perfect solution.
Food wasn’t the perfect fix by far, but it certainly put him on the right tracks. Food made him feel happy, and food made him look plump. Plump mechs looked less dangerous, which meant he would become more approachable. He was, in his own opinion, already plenty friendly between the beaming smiles and the frame big enough to house more love than the entire Decepticon faction (which wasn’t much of a comparison, the more he thought about it… even they could be quite ruthless), but he still understood the need for more.
He needed a solution to branching out, and he needed help to stop himself from scaring bots away before he could so much as share a single word with them. It was where food came in handy and growing fat came as a pleasant benefit.
Overlord sat curled up atop his massive pile of pillows, blankets and throws in the main area of his quarters and watched the window patiently. The room was bright with pink-tinged lights and the entertainment set he hardly touched was turned on for once, its old, staticky stations churning out pleasant sounds and songs to set the mood. He wasn’t expecting permanent company, but he was expecting a delivery—a food delivery, in fact, and a food delivery from a small place he had frequented from afar for weeks before now.
Door-to-door service was helpful when you were as nervous as him, but tonight, Overlord was going to push himself. He had ordered out from the same place plenty of times, and every last time he had performed the same ritual: he’d sit in his fort of soft cushioning and watch the door, his attention fixed on any other sounds despite the lulling tunes from his radio. He didn’t have to answer the door, but he wanted to, and today…
Today he would.
Overlord swallowed hard, his servos busy anxiously fidgeting with a fluffy heart-shaped pillow in his lap. He didn’t have to say much. All he needed to do was open the door, thank them for delivering such a massive order yet again, and—
Finally, there was a knock at his door. Overlord tossed his pillow aside and crawled out of the comforting cushion pit before his resolve waned any further.
The food smelled delicious once he opened the door, and its scent filled the room the very moment he peeked outside. The mech on the other end, looking bored as he waited the customary few seconds before returning to the shop, almost seemed surprised to hear the door open.
The surprise didn’t last long. Overlord had just barely bent low enough to see under the rim of the doorframe and smiled his typical smile before the mech’s face grew whiter than the charcoal-stained paint job covering his frame.
“Hello there!” Overlord beamed, his nervous excitement merging into a wavering voice and booming words. “Ahhh, what a tasty treat… just give me one moment and I’ll have something for you in return.”
It only took a minute for him to maneuver his chubby frame around the slim opening, but by the time he’d managed to scrounge up a good handful of shanix for the mech to take, screeching tires and the disappointing absence of company to go with his meal was all he had been left with. Overlord’s excitement tanked, and his smile dropped—until he bent down to pick up his packages, that is.
“Oh well,” he said to himself, attempting a small, sad smile despite the circumstances. “I suppose I’ll just… keep this safe… until next time.”
The shanix went right back into his subspace, and the packaged meal went right back with him to the comfort of his seemingly bottomless pile of soft, cushy pillows and cozy, comforting blankets. Overlord ate in relative silence, his attention drifting between the food, the radio, and the door.
It was another unfortunate failure on his part, but maybe tomorrow he would have more luck. Maybe in the morning, when he ordered from another of his favorite places, he would still have the courage to greet them at the door and reward them for giving his hungry appetite a chance.
There would always be next time, but right at that moment, Overlord would have really, really loved the company.
There was nothing personal to it, he supposed, his sad frown twisting into a small smile as he opened up the first of many, many food boxes. He could always try again tomorrow, and if not tomorrow, the next day.
He would have company soon. Friends, too. For now, he just kept eating, and he enjoyed the comfort of solitude with a good meal in the center of his pile of plush pillows and soft, soft blankets.
What we have here folks, is a story of two sad, broken gay men being sad and broken and gay together. It is my interpretation of how an Overlord x Trepan relationship might form in the Shattered Glass universe. Not really a slow burn, but lots of comfort sought after past hurt. Like, tooth-rotting amounts of fluff in this one.
Lovely art for the fic has been done by @glasspunkart and I can’t wait for everyone to see the full thing!
I just had an thought... what would a OverPan relationship look like in Shatterred glass...
Have any ideas, comment down below, because I have no clue how to do a poll...
I would love to see what you all think, also sorry for sounding like I'm doing this on YouTube, I also have a YouTube channel, but I don't post much on it as it takes a long time...
