The hot 🔥 hot 🔥 weather the last few weeks has meant flowers were blooming all across Singapore 🌼🌸🏵️🌺. Been too busy running around to shoot them but on my walk exploring the Geylang Park Connector, ex Dakota, I found these pretty yellow blooms brightening what was a grey, overcast sky (that turned to that brilliant sunset colours on Monday!). They're common around Singapore, little shrubs and little trees but when they flower, they're a pretty sight of spectacular yellow, fragrant blooms. Tarenna fragrans (Blume) Koord. & Valeton Genus epithet 'Tarenna' derived from Sinhalese name 'Maha-tarnana' for a plant from this genus -- Tarenna asiatica (synonym: Webera corymbosa), which is distributed from the Indian sub-continent to Indonesia (Borneo). Why do bad things happen to good people? Why does tragedy happen on this earth? We may not have the answers to the missing MH370 and most recently the sinking of ferry Sewol but what we can do is to offer our prayers to the families and relatives of the victims. Such news break my heart, knowing that someone's beloved is out there, in an unknown and dire situation, yet unable to do anything and feeling helpless. Perhaps the consolation through these news is knowing that people care. People all around the world of different religions and cultures have and are offering their prayers. Brave soldiers and divers are doing their part when they join in the rescue teams. It's a rainy day in Singapore today, as we remember Christ's death upon the cross. Jesus sacrificed his life, so that I, we can be forgiven and draw close to God. I may not fully fathom why we have to go through pain and suffering on this earth, or why Jesus had to suffer such pain & humiliation on the cross. But I do know that it is part of God's perfect plan, and no matter how bizarre life may be and seem, He is always in control and Christ is always right there beside me. #goodfriday #sgblooms
