stella and { muse } met during their college years; an original boston native, stella came down to iron river to attend wiggins university to get her degree in psychology. the two met and became friends before taking things to the next level - almost a year went by before their first official date and kiss.
after that, though, things moved fast. stella always knew she wanted a family, and when the time came to figure out her next steps, it was easy - a proposal from { muse } convinced her to stay in georgia instead of returning home for her masters degree, and within five years of meeting, the two were married in one of her family’s hotels back in cuba.
they chose right down the line by gerry rafferty as their wedding song because that was what was playing at the bar the night { muse } decided he was going to ask her out - something stella hadn’t even known until their wedding planning.
marriage of course has it’s ups and downs. like many, their first year was the hardest - living in a small apartment downtown while stella focused on her graduate program and neglected her husband more than she should have. for a month, she disappeared back home to boston, moving in with her mother.
it was her brother, alberto, who ultimately talked sense back into her - reminding her that he’d never seen her so happy, and that { muse } was an amazing person and loved her with her whole being.
upon moving back home, the two talked about finding their ‘forever’ home - more space might do them so good, and they made the mutual decision to have one official date night a month - not just a night of take out and sweats, but a dress up, go somewhere and have fun night of bonding. in the eight years since this tradition started, they still hold strong to it.
they had talked about children and what they wanted from their lives before being married, but decided mutually to let it happen when it did. when the pregnancy test came back positive for their first in 2017, the two were overjoyed - not planned, necessarily, but it felt like they were finally really coming into their own as a family. delia ines was born in the early morning of a sweltering august, and the two doted on her endlessly.
the two of them knew they wanted another child, but conceiving was harder the second time around. stella, only a year and two months older than her brother, didn’t want there to be a large gap between their children. eventually, the test turned positive once again, and elian anton was born during the late afternoon of the 2020 election day.
there’s been talks of trying for a third, but the two are also content with their happy little family at the moment. stella has since given up her job at the local high school to be a full time stay at home mom - between his job and the money she has from her family’s success, they can afford it. being a mom is all stella has ever truly wanted, and raising their children is a dream come true.
these days, the two are finding how to adjust marriage and parenthood. they don’t want to lose what they had before their children were born, and are grateful for their strong foundation. at the end of the day, they are truly best friends, and the years have made them nearly invincible.
while stella may not have believed in soulmates before the two of them met, she does now - she knows that their life together has taken work, but there’s no one she’d rather spend the rest of eternity with. their marriage is her foundation, and has made her happier than she ever was before.
travel is an important part of their life; they visit stella’s family in boston or cuba at least once a year, and try to pick a new place to vacation at least every other year. together, they’ve traveled around the world.
they haven’t managed to go further than boston since delia was born, but plan on making a trip to cuba this summer to see stella’s extended family and introduce them to their children.
