Just passed by Saint Andrew's Cathedral, which always makes me stop and pause to look at its spire. It's one of Singapore’s National monuments, which are buildings and structures in Singapore that have been designated by the National Heritage Board (or NHB) as being of special historic, traditional, archaeological, architectural or artistic value. Saint Andrew's Cathedral is Singapore’s oldest surviving Anglican place of worship and is the seat of the Anglican bishop of Singapore. Construction: 1856 – 1861 Architects: Lieutenant-Colonel Ronald MacPherson Within the belfry was a half-tonne bell donated in 1843 by Maria Balestier, wife of the then American Consul, Joseph Balestier; she was also the daughter of Paul Revere, a patriot during the American Revolution. The bell was replaced by a new peal of bells in 1889 and is currently housed in the National Museum of Singapore. #NationalMonumentSG #SGMonuments #nationalheritageboard #cathedral #standrewscathedral #spire #SgBicentennial #VisitSingapore #PassionMadePossible #lovinsingapore #SingaporeInsiders #wonderlustsingapore #whatissingapore #ExploreSG #ExploringSingapore #igsg #instasg #instagramsg #VisitSingapore #igsingapore #Sgig #sgmemory #sgheritage #sglife #sgculture #igerssingapore #things2doinsingapore (at St Andrew's Cathedral, Singapore) https://www.instagram.com/p/B67aZmVnEeC/?igshid=df41m6e0fe5o
