for the first time in what felt like ages, chicago wasn’t disgustingly humid. the breeze coming off of lake michigan seemed to cool the whole city down. there was almost a mountain air vibe that made marley miss home a little more than usual. so, she did the only logical thing she could think of - ask sam to go on a hike. within ten minutes of texting her to meet her outside, marley had pulled the jeep around and was waiting with a bag full of food. ignoring the stares of the valets, marley was bopping along to some song she didn’t know on the radio when the passenger door swung open. “about time!” she teased, bouncing in the driver’s seat. “i hope you’re hungry, because i think i packed enough food for about six people? and i’m alright with carryin’ it all there, but i don’t wanna have to carry it all back too!”
