i think it’s a missed opportunity to take a more grounded approach to these characters sometimes when you could literally go balls to the wall ridiculous and have it make sense in south park’s fucking stupid context and logic. like yes yes realism and what not is fun but also sometimes maybe all a bitch needs is a christmas flavored apocalypse played off as totally normal and just Another Thing that happens

💑 What are my muse’s requirements for a potential partner?

While I answered that some here I'm going to go more into it with this ask!

Ken is a cocktail of a lot of different issues, most of which affecting how he views others and how he's able to get along with them. For a long term partner to stand a chance against him often just slipping away they would really have to be able to see past the aloof loner facade and realize he's honestly just really awkward. With constant fear of saying / doing the wrong thing and a general lack of understanding how love works he's needing somebody to guide him into the right direction in relation to it. I mean his best examples are his parents and they often are at each others throats and venomously abusing one another, his grasp on what love actually looks like his slippery at best. He doesn't want to turn out like his parents, but so desperately wants somebody to cling to and to understand him (to an almost unhealthy amount).

If you can get past his front it's a good sign he'd be willing to put the effort into loving you, you'd just have to teach him what love is like first.

Oof, a good one.

I’d say Kenny changes a lot as he grows up, but it’s not super noticeable or significant (from others’ perspective) until he’s an adult.

See as he enters into being a teenager he comes to accept he’s never going to outgrow this stupid curse, and decides if he’s never going to actually die he’s going to live life to its fullest and take advantage of that fact. He simultaneously becomes selfish and altruistic; snarky and friendly; open and reserved. The hints of contradictions he showcases in childhood become a lot more pronounced. Chances are, if you aren’t close to him, you aren’t seeing him at his core.

It’s not until he’s an adult and fully realizes his maturity and how much of a, well, an asshat he’s being, in some ways, that he decides to... chill. He decides to help people, really help them, which is why he opens the center. He still moonlights as Mysterion to tackle problems diplomacy and Kenny can’t, and because he still has that “gift,” so he damn well better use it.

Kenny’s growth is all about realizing the universe has been making him its bitch for years, but now the tables can turn and he can make the universe his bitch.

Faux confidence, cheer, optimism and content become real... to the extent they can be, when cursed with brutal immortality.

“Well, on the positive side of things, she’s not huge on trends. She’s more of a ‘wear what’s comfortable’ person, when she actually gets to dress casual. More often than not she’s in her work uniform, so. That or pajamas. She likes dresses which isn’t a huge deal... just... a lot of bright colors. She likes pink. Ugh.”

Late Nights

“Hey now. You make it sound like things are gonna change. Like your big bro’s gonna leave you or somethin’.” Kenny smiled, playfully nudging Karen with an elbow. Part of their ceiling had collapsed in again, revealing a breathtaking chunk of the night sky filled with stars. Even the light pollution from town couldn’t drown them out up in the mountains like this. So, after clearing the debris, Kenny had gathered up their blankets and pillows and spread out beneath the makeshift skylight with Karen.

It wasn’t as if any other part of the house was warmer, and like this they could share body heat. Affectionately, he threw an arm around her, tugging her even closer as he closed his eyes. “I told you. No matter how big we get or where things take us, I’ll always be here. Promise. It’ll always be like that, and nothing’s gonna change it.”
