Hi! What are some shabbes/yontiff friendly hobbies (other than reading)? Without shul and meals I am struggling to stay observant and as I live alone, and without being able to call people or draw I end up feeling down (not to a dangerous point, I'm aware of psaks about mental health and I don't feel they apply). Any ideas on actives one can do solo on shabbat to pass the time? FOR: traditionally observant of shabbat
Mod here. Potential respondents who don’t know about the traditional observance of Shabbat but want to chime in are encouraged to do their own research. Shabbat observance can still be variable within traditional (e.g. whether secular activities are okay, whether to use electricity, whether puzzels are okay), but a little research will all put us on similar pages. MyJewishLearning, Judaism101, and Chabad will all give some perspectives on Shabbat observance. Respondents are also welcome to include links to outside posts or resources about traditional Shabbat observance, but let’s keep the textual bulk of responses to anon’s question. If you are a potential respondent who has a lingering question about whether something is okay under traditional (or another) Shabbat observance, @ask-jumblr‘s ask box is open.
Much thanks! (Todah rabah!) !תּוֹדָה רַבָּה
