headcanon: Shadow appearance
I just realized that I don’t actually have a physical description of Shadow anywhere. Which is a problem because more even than Shae her fcs do not do the full job.
Shadow can appear as either entirely human, entirely inhumanly demonic, or a mix of the two, which is what she prefers and defaults to. The human parts of her appearance may vary, but what stays the same are her eyes, her horns, her wings, her ears, and her fangs.
Eyes: silver. Not grey, but a pure metallic silver that actually shows a reflection. Some people say eyes are the window into the soul; Shadow’s are a mirror of your own soul. These are absolutely the last part of Shadow that she’ll hide.
Horns: grow out of her skull about an inch past her hairline, growing back towards her ears. They’re rams’ horns - big, thick, and curled in on themselves.
Wings: big ol’ black dragon wings, strong enough to easily lift her. Fully extended, they’re easily twice as wide as she is tall. When she’s cold, she has a habit of wrapping them around herself as if she were a bat. Most of her shirts are backless to accommodate them. They’re the first thing she’ll hide if she’s skewing towards appearing mostly human.
Ears: sharply pointed. Easy to miss under her hair.
Fangs: extremely sharp-pointed canines that are usually retracted far enough that they don’t immediately stand out. Shadow can extend these at will. The first bicuspid is also sharply pointed; those also extend when she wants them to, but not as much. It’s not uncommon for anyone kissing her to cut their tongue if they’re not careful.
