Shadow Cackler
These Hyena-like Rahi received their name due to their tendencies to lurk in dark places and make a laughing-like call. They’re known to frighten Matoran travelling at night because of their uncanny, sapient-like laugh.
Shadow Cacklers have short hind-legs that help them crouch down while hunting in the long grass coating the fields of Driah and the savanna grass of Moccoto.
Cacklers are both carnivores and scavengers, meaning they can either hunt or look for a Rahi that’s already dead. Cacklers benefit the environment with their scavenging instincts because they can destroy disease found in most types of Rahi carcasses. Cacklers also have incredibly strong jaws that help break down the metal bones of carcasses and fresh kill.
Cacklers can sometimes be used as pets or minions of Makuta due to their ruthless and intimidating nature.
Tan Cacklers originated from the savannas of Moccoto, but as some Cacklers were brought into Driah by a few Makuta, they adapted to their surroundings and turned gray with dark red eyes. They are considered an invasive species of Driah because not only had they not originated there, but they hunt down native Rahi and have caused endangerment to some species.
