Y'know, what? #kyoace was originally conceptualized as like classmates/rivals to lovers (like so many others here at the library shhhh), however while making the banner for the stack, I decided to do something else.

Ace is to be married; as is Kyoya. They're both arranged marriages, but they like their partners well enough. Ace is stood up by her groom; Kyoya is stood up by his bride. Somehow they both end up at the same hotel bar (not either of the hotels they were meant to be staying at with their new spouses), and deciding to take advantage of their laughably awful situation, decide (as complete strangers, minus what they've talked about over a couple of drinks) to come up with a sob story to get into that hotel's honeymoon suite as "newlyweds" and take full advantage of the amenities allotted to them.

They don't sleep together, but Tamaki does find the both of them the next morning, hungover, in the hotel lobby as they're getting ready to part ways. Turns out, Ace is Tamaki's cousin! And Kyoya is his best friend! That explains why he was being such a monster yesterday—he was trying to run and attend two separate weddings for important people in his life on opposite sides of the city!

Chaos ensues as Tamaki keeps "accidentally" pulling them together over the next few years. They'd both previously sworn off love, and have now sworn off marriage (even of the arranged variety), but that does not deter the hopeless romantic. He saw them that morning—he just needs to recreate that spark without having to get them drunk every time.

And he does eventually—but they're not about to tell him that 😉
