NOT the Golden Child
I am not the golden child of the family, no question about it. No I may be the cute artsy one, who does the interesting things. The conversation piece. But the golden child, the pretty one, the funny one, the one EVERYONE loves. Yeah that's my older brother. Gorgeous, blonde, fit, tanned with big blue eyes framed by thick black lashes his beauty is commented on daily. While I got to high school barely ever even being told I was pretty. So when a boy told me I was beautiful I felt like the world was on fire and jumped into a relationship with him, which was a disaster. Don't date the first boy to ever call you pretty, if the only reason you are dating is he compliments you. That's a recipe for disaster. But that's a story for another day. I am a total push over. I'm a little chubby. I'm not popular. Not social. Don't play sports. Dye my hair brilliant colors and stretch my ears. Like I said, conversation piece. While my brother, well, the universe provides for him. It doesn't matter how many times I say no, whatever he wants he gets. he always gets what he wants. everyone smiles and praises him as he goes along. When he messes up, oh. He's a brainless dolt, but he's oh so gorgeous and he just deserves the best. Whenever it comes to me or him my parents pick him. He can verbally attack, and abuse me as much as he wants and my parents sit by. "You can't keep blaming him" they say "he apologized for what he did before he left" "he's different now. Mature" yeah sure. Mature enough that he thinks he knows how to run my life and has enough money to fulfill his every desire. We will just ignore the fact that he isn't going to college. That he is a slob. That he's never home, and that he never spends time with the family. That he is always out until really late hours. He is the golden boy. He can do whatever he wants. Who cares.
