My favorite part of the episode is still when Magnus was fuzzing over the empanadas and Alec reassured him everything was perfect ❤

To all the people upset about Malec in the last episode,

I hear you. Your points are completely valid.

In the same episode, we had an in-bed scene between a hetero couple. And, yet, for Malec–an M/M sex scene–we only got a fade-to-black.

I understand why that can be perceived as wrong. There are clear points of evidence to back you up.

But–I’d also like to point out this: all of the in-bed sex scenes we’ve gotten in the show (Jace and the girl, Simon and Maureen, Izzy and Meliorn) have been between “hook up” type relationships with no commitment. They’re physically intimate–but not emotionally intimate. They’re only there for that. Izzy, sure, had feelings for Meliorn, but it was never going to be a committed thing. It was mainly physical.

Malec is not this.

What makes Malec beautiful is the healthy communication, the honesty, the support, the growing together, the dates, the conversations, the vulnerability. The emotional intimacy.

They show us that with healthy, beautiful relationships, although physical intimacy is obviously important (as shown by the kisses and the sex), emotional intimacy is sometimes much more daunting and significant than physical will ever be.

You need both to be in a healthy relationship.

Malec has that; they show us that. The others in the show are all physical.

That’s what makes Malec special and beautiful.

Was the writing and editing for this episode perfect? No. But, I think it was their way of showing us that Malec is so much more than sex–they’re about the honest convo before the sex. And the dates and the laughter and the learning from each other.

They don’t need to necessarily show it to us because we got something so much more than sex: we get to see them falling in love.

The other semi-serious relationships involving love that were/are hetero–Clace, for example–did not go beyond kissing. They didn’t get a sex scene. They too were starting to show us what Malec shows us: the value of emotional vulnerability.

Anyway, that’s my two cents.

I understand that you’re upset, but please consider this as a possibility first before boycotting the show before we even have a chance to see what else the show is going to do.

No show is perfect; the people in charge apologised–they’ve acknowledged your concerns.

Let’s move on to watch what we really have been wanting to enjoy: Malec continuing to fall in love.
