Can you do a Dogday x sloth reader (toy obviously)
Perhaps from wherever the reader stays in save heaven they stare at Dogday all like "is this... Happiness?"
I need him saved, alive and well 😞
That's the name they gave you.
The name that no one else knew besides the doctors and toys.
You were a scrapped toy, just a suggestion. You were supposed to be apart of the Smiling Critters but others filled your role.
Meeting the smiling critters for the first time was the best thing that ever happened to you. Catnap was quiet, keeping to himself. Bobby was sweet and affectionate. KickenChicken was energetic and seemed a bit cocky. Everyone was so unique, but one of them caught your eye.
Dogday lingered around, chiming in when he could, but he was different somehow. Something about him excluded him out of his group but you just couldn't quite put your finger on it. Is it his kindness? His knowledge? Or is it that he seems the most normal out of everyone?
They would arrange something like a playdate for the toys, they said it was to get to know each other, but they would make us meet at random, so that doesn't appear to be true.
But one day, when you, the smiling critters, and some other toys were playing, an alarm went off, screaming in your ears. People were screaming too.
Not the excited laughs or giggles you normally heard.
Horrified screams, like ones you would let out when in danger.
Something weird started happening to a lot of the toys. Catnap started groaning and clutching his stomach, a cracking sound coming from his body.
Toys started screaming and banging on the door to be let out. Everything was happening too fast, you needed to get out of this room.
You were just about to bolt past some of the toys, but Dogday grabbed you and a few others before you could move.
"Stay behind me." He demanded, sounding too calm for a situation like this. "What's happening?" One toy asked. "I'm scared." Another one said. You peeked over Dogday's shoulder to see what's happening.
Catnap is on the floor, limbs outstretched in a way that shouldn't be possible. His pained sounds have gotten louder, he starts standing up, hunching over in a posture that a real cat would have. His mouth.. is hanging low in an impossibly wide smile. His eyes are sunken deep in their sockets. He keeps getting taller and taller every second, his arms and legs about 11 inches. He looked insanely malnourished tot he point of death.
You start to back away, fear hitting you. Catnap looks towards you and Dogday, and starts to slowly inch closer. "Catnap, what's happening? What happened to you? Why are people screaming?" Dogday frantically asked, needed to know answers.
Catnaps head leans down to his face, his mouth somehow opening wider, red smoke starts emerging from deep within his mouth.
"What are you-" Dogday questions, slightly stepping away from Catnap. His mouth opens, to speak again, but he inhales the smoke instead. His eyes flutter and his legs wobble, he tries to catch himself but he falls onto you and another toy.
Catnap starts exhaling the red gas more urgently, looking up to secure the room better.
You squirm and struggle underneath Dogday's weight, being heavy despite looking so plush and light. You manage to roll him over and stand up.
Chaos is occurring, inside this room and outside of it.
Catnap is facing away from you, this might be your only chance to get away! You run past him to the door, getting ahold of the door knob and turning it back and forth wildly. The sound makes Catnaps head turn, his focus all on you now.
You start banging on the door, begging to be let out.
Catnap marches in your direction, his smoke emitting quicker. You dodge it, putting your nose and mouth into your elbow. You approach where Dogday is and stand near him, not knowing what do do now.
Catnap quickly catches up and grabs your waist roughly with one hand, lifting you into the air and pulling you close to his face. You fight against his grip, screaming in fear and pain. The red vapor hits your face and you hold your breath, putting your hand over your mouth and nose. But you can't hold it forever. You inhale slightly and you feel it, your body getting weak and your mind getting hazy. Your head lolls forward and then back, trying to fight the tiredness. You can't do anything more, sleep takes you.
You wake up with a cold sweat, breathing heavily. You look around, everyone is gone. The absurdly loud alarm is still going off, but the exit to the room is wide open. Standing up, you feel a bit drowsy from whatever Catnap exposed you to. Leaving the playhouse was a piece of cake since there were no staff around to stop you, but it didn't feel nice to be completely alone.
A chill runs down your spine as you hear screaming coming from Home Sweet Home. Since you were in Playcare, you were able to easily run over there. But, it was hard to do so, since there were dozens of bodies scattered around.
You scream. There's too much blood everywhere.
Complete silence fills your ears after your yell, no movement besides your body shaking.
You close your eyes, the sudden scare too much to bear. A door creaks open slowly, the sound echoing in the large enclosure. You slowly open your eyes, turning your head to see where the noise came from.
Catnap. He stands on all fours, just like before. He's standing in front of Home Sweet Home. Was he the one that caused the screaming you heard earlier? Did he hurt somebody? You were just about to run away from him until you saw Dogday peeking out from behind the doorframe. "Sloth!" He yells, just about to make his way towards you before Catnap blocks him with his lanky arm. "We can trust them Catnap, if they were going to hurt us they would've already." Dogday states, pushing past him. He speed walks over, a big relieved smile plastered on his face. "I'm so glad you're okay! Even if we don't really know each other well, I wouldn't want any of the toys to get hurt." He stammered out, grabbing your hand.
"Come on, I don't think it's safe out here yet." He whispers, looking around before dragging you towards Catnap.
After Dogday leads you into Home Sweet home, you saw what was really happening. Dogday explained that Catnap was protecting him and apparently the orphans. But that doesn't explain why he would kill all those people. Unless the strangers were the danger? You don't know, nothing makes sense.
You hear nothing besides the occasional whisper and cry of one of the orphans. Abruptly, Catnap walks to the center of the room, turning around the face Dogday who is staring at the ground. His finger comes up and gestures for him to come over.
Dogday snaps out of his daze and staggers over.
Catnap leans down, his mouth near Dogday's ear.
Silence takes over for a few moments before Dogday gasps and steps back. "Y-You do? Who?" He shouts, needing answers. Catnap whispered something to Dogday that none of you heard, but it sounded important by his reaction to it.
Catnap turns around and heads for the exit. Dogday trots after him, desperate to know. You follow after, curious.
Catnap doesn't stop walking until he's near some of the bodies, starting to shift from leg to leg until he slowly stands up tall. Your mouth gapes open, shocked by his true height. Dogday's tail stops wagging.
Catnap faces you both once again, looking at only Dogday. "The prototype..." Catnap says, his voice raspy and deep. "He did this. Made me stronger. You can too. Join me Dogday, follow him and we can take revenge on everyone who hurt us." He speaks once more, taking long pauses. His hand extends to Dogday, his palm facing up, awaiting his acceptance.
Dogday stills, not knowing what to do after his proposal. He looks down at his hand, then at his eyes, then back at his hand. "You want to follow someone...who killed innocent people?" He asks, his eyebrows furrowing. "I know some of the bad people are probably dead too but no one deserves death Catnap! This is all wrong." His voice quivers and he steps back. "No. I won't join you." He declared.
Catnap's hand stays in the air for a moment more, before dropping to his side. Dogday's eyebrows falter from their angry placement, angling upwards instead. "'m going back to the orphans." He turns around without another word, not waiting to see if you'll follow.
You don't stay a moment more, quickly following after him. You look over your shoulder, Catnap still stands tall, but not as friendly as he was a second ago. Something felt wrong. You couldn't think about it for much longer as Catnap bolted for Dogday, lifting his paw to evidently attack him.
You didn't think, you just acted. Stepping between the two of you and shielding Dogday with your back.
Pain erupts within you. A scream tore through your throat and you fall to your knees. You tilt your head to see what happened.
Your arm was torn off. Completely.
Dogday spins around, seeing the sight. Catnap pauses, but doesn't seem frightened. You crawl, heading for Dogday. He falls to the floor and pulls you close to him, trying to calm you down with 'its okay's and 'breathe's. Catnap dismisses you and continues heading towards Dogday. He grabs him by his arm and starts dragging him away to who knows.
You lie on the cold ground, crying in pain, begging someone to help you. The pain is too much, you're losing so much blood. You feel so lightheaded. You can't help but close your eyes and lose consciousness.
"Hey buddy, you awake?" An unknown voice asks.
You move your leg a little and feel something cold and mushy. Your eyes open as quickly as you can open them and look at what your foot touched. "You are! That's just great!" That unknown voice speaks again, but shoves their face into your vision.
"I'm sure you already know me, but I'm Doey. And you my mini friend..look like you're apart of the smiling critters! But you aren't on any of the posters or in the show." He mutters that last part. "I don't really want to get into that right now." You replied, sitting up. "Woah! Easy there pal. Don't want you getting up and about just yet." Doey hurriedly says, putting both of his hands on your chest and pushing you back down.
You let him move you and you let you finally have a moment to think. Dogday. "Catnap took Dogday, I need to find him!" You explained, worry seeping back in. Doey's smile fades and his expression turns into one of pity. "If Catnap was the one who took your friend away, then it might be too late." He informs.
You look to the ground, guilt throbbing in your heart.
Was it your fault he was taken away? Are you the reason he might be dead? All the horrible thoughts your mind could form were swirling around in your head. "But, he might not be in Catnap's area." Doey finally says. "If he isn't, I could bring him back here.
Well, In the sense that he's alive." Doey clarifies.
There could be a chance that he's still alive
So, you waited. You got better, got to know people, and lived impatiently peacefully.
But one day, you woke up to the sound of frantic yelling. You peeked through the small tent you stay in. You see Doey, Scout, and three others. "We'll talk about this later. For now, I'll make sure "out there" is where he stays." He walks away with no further word.
The three people start talking, mostly the red headed one. The person with a grab pack, starts walking to where Doey headed. Should you introduce yourself?
That doesn't seem like such a bad idea if they do stay.
Stepping out of the tent, you make your way towards Poppy, you think her name was, and stand in front of her. "Hello, I'm SleepySloth." You introduce reaching out your left hand, used to using it by now.
"Oh! Hello. I'm poppy, and this is Kissy." The little doll says, smiling warmly, but her eyes make that warmth change into something more unsettling. "I haven't seen you guys around here before, is this your first time visiting Safe Haven?" You ask. Poppy's smile falters for a second before she forces it back in place.
"I-it's a long story. l'd rather not get into it at the moment." She explains, voice getting quieter with each word.
You notice how uncomfortable she's getting and back off from that topic. "Hey." she starts, "You look like one of the smiling critters, are you one of them?" She observes, looking closer at your smiling critters like features. ".Yeah, but I didn't make the cut." You say, not proud of it. Poppy frowns, that stupid pitiful look you get from your backstory or from looking at your missing arm.
"I think you're the last one of the smiling critters." She remarked, "Well, besides Catnap and Dogday." Poppy added. You still, Dogday? "Wait, is he alive?
Dogday, I mean." Poppy thinks for a second, eyes looking somewhere else. "I don't think so, but l'm not so sure. __ might know, they were traveling in Catnap's territory." You turn your head, hearing a door hissing open. The person Poppy just talked about is heading in a direction that seems like an exit.
You scurry over to them, your legs struggling to keep up with your pace. "Excuse me, excuse me!" The person's head turns slightly. Your legs come to a quick stop. "Hah, hello. I-I know you don't know me, but, do you think you can do me a huuuuuuge favor?" You ask, your voice getting quiet at that last part.
The person is now fully facing you, their head slightly tilted as if interested. "Um, so..." You start, "Could you get me into Catnap's territory?" Their head shakes, signaling no. "I promise we'll be fast! I'm quick on my toes." You stated. They look you up and down, their sarcastic expression evident.
"Please help me. Dogday is trapped somewhere and it's all my fault." You say, desperate for help.
They look away, staring at where they were about to exit out of. The door opens again, Doey walks out.
"Huh? Why are you still here?" He asks, looking at them before you. "I was just asking if they could help me." He looks over to you. "Help you with what?" His skepticism creeping in his tone. "To find Dogday."
He frowns, a sigh escaping his lips. "We've gone over this. It's too dangerous to venture where Catnap could be. _——_ go ahead, I'll figure this out with SleepySloth." Doey explains, stepping in between the two of you. "Catnap's dead." Poppy says, stepping out of the tent where her and Kissy Missy were.
"What?" Doey asks, his expression unreadable. "It's not completely safe there, but it's safer to explore now." She states, voice steady, and for some reason on your side.
Doey looks between you, and the others, speechless.
His face scrunches and his fists shake before another sigh comes out and he turns his back to us. "Just...be careful, and make it quick." He demands, returning into a room.
You smile as wide as you can, shaking with excitement. "He said it's okay, so let's go! If we start right now, we can be back so fast." You say turning towards the unknown person. They nod and start heading to the sealed door that everyone entered from.
How long has it been? It feels like it's been hours.
Walking as fast as you can, you stumble across pool tiles, feeling as if the giant ducks are staring at you in pity. You almost slip on a trail of blood, but luckily your company catches you. You let them go ahead, they're tall enough to open the door anyway, Bodies and bodies of miniature versions of the smiling critters are scattered across the floor, blood stained under their fragile weights.
You put your hand over your noise, the soft fur somewhat comfort and a reminder of your new dominant arm.
You see cages of iron bars all around the room, and kinds of dirt and grime every- "You...you're Poppy's angel." You turn your head, the voice catching you off guard. You still. Seeing the old face you once remember looking tired and hope all gone. He goes on to speak to your new friend, not seeming to notice you. You don't hear a word he's saying, only focusing on his eyes, his arms locked up, and his legs... torn off while stuffing pours out. Your endless thoughts get interrupted by the frantic scream of Dogday.
"Oh no...OH NO! Leave me. Please. Just go!... RUN!" He shouts as you see the same miniature versions of the smiling critters alive and well crawling out from cracks and holes in the walls scurrying towards him.
You don't think. You act on thought. Grabbing ahold of his wrists, and yanking them out of the locks.
Hurriedly maneuvering him onto your back like a makeshift backpack. "GO!" You scream as loud as you can, bolting to where you came from. The chase was relentless. the sound of your plush slamming against the ground and the sound of the plushies crawling quickly across the floor. The stranger sprints ahead of you, switching out his hand to a purple one and launching it onto a pad, springing themself up high and onto the elevator platform. You hold on tight to Dogday as you make a decision. You stand at the edge of the pad, pulling Dogday off of your back. "Catch him!" You shout as you throw Dogday as hard as you can towards the Stranger.
Dogday gasps but still reaches out to them, their grab pack hands pulling him onto the elevator. You take a step back, then jump off as hard as you can.
But it wasn't hard enough. You start falling, but your arm manages to grab onto the hard flooring. The only thing stopping you from dropping completely is your left hand holding onto the platform.
"SleepySloth!" Dogday calls out, crawling over to you and grabbing your hand. He struggles to pull you up, his arms weak from not moving for who knows how long. The stranger pushes him aside and pulls you up with their grab pack, launching you onto the platform.

They quickly press the button to signal the need to go up. The small smiling critters pour out and rush in your direction, but it was too late. The elevator ascends up and your journey starts again.
The door to Safe Haven screeches open, the sight of Poppy, Kissy, and Doey standing in front of you.
Everybody helps you bring Dogday to a hut for him to stay in. Doey gets supplies to patch him up, Poppy talks to him, and that stranger is gone.
Doey shows you how to sew him up, his waist looking as brand new as you could get it. His wrists also got some work done. Since when you got him out of his cell and the locks on his arms, it pulled the stitching apart a good bit.
Once you got him all patched up, everyone let you two be.
Sitting down next to him, you can't seem to make eye contact.
"I'm so sorry." Dogday says, his voice raspy enough to remind you of Catnap. "Why are you apologizing? I was the one that caused all of this to happen." You say, tears welling up too quickly in your eyes.
"Nothing could have stopped this from happening."
He says, placing his hand on your shoulder.
You finally turn to look at him in his eyes. Even though he doesn't have eyebrows, you can see how sad he looks. "I know we weren't close, but I always saw you as part of the Smiling Critters crew." He states, no hint of lying in his words. Your lip shakes and your eyes blur, in a moment of vulnerability, you hug him, shaking from the years of held in guilt. This moment doesn't feel real. No matter how real your thoughts and tears are, you can't believe he's really here.
You pull back to look at him, your eyes looking in his sockets to where his would be. "I always thought it was me that made you suffer." He shakes his head slowly, his hands cradling your head. "It was never your fault. You saved me today, that's the only thing that matters now."
