Vanitas stared into the remains of the campfire. Ventus was asleep on the other side, but Vanitas was wide awake - he’d never needed that much sleep anyway. Unfortunately, the fact that he wasn’t tired just lead to his mind trying to come up with something to do - and there was really only one topic he had to turn to at the moment...
Ever since Ventus had first brought up the possibility, Vanitas hadn’t been able to stop thinking about it. The mere thought of someone... something else like him existing was... wrong. He’d always been taught that he shouldn’t exist at all, that he was an incomplete freak, allowed to live only by the generosity of the Master -
He stopped that line of thought with a growl. Just the thought of that bastard made his anger flare enough for an Unversed to slip out. He glared at it for a moment, before he summoned his Keyblade and struck down the offending emotion. He let the pain of it wash over him, thankful for the momentary break in his thoughts.
He needed to focus. If she’d been split, they were probably unstable, just like he and Ventus had been. It was likely then that the light half was unconscious - but as for the dark... unless they’d restrained her, she could be anywhere.
But maybe he was getting ahead of himself. He wasn’t even sure if she had split yet. Ugh, this whole thing was just one big headache...
He had to think of something to do, though, or else he’d probably go insane.

I agree completely. Not only that Vani can feel positive emotions but that Aqua is wrong. Just like Ven can feel negative emotions despite being pure light, Vani can absolutely feel positive emotions. Let him ship his ships and laugh at trash TV.
//Yes. Thank you. That is exactly my point.
At the same time I feel like he probably feels positive emotions less often than normal people, but that’s mostly because of how he was raised *cough cough xehanort should not be allowed near children ever*. But then like according the novels Ventus was actually pretty pessimistic before they were split so I guess part of it is just how he is but it’s definitely not because he’s made of darkness.
I don’t have the patience or proper tools to color this completely - let alone properly. You know my tablet is stupid with it’s charger and the tablet for my computer is being dumb too. So have half-assed mouse coloring.

And for those of you who don’t follow and or RP with shadowofamaster, she roleplays Aqua’s Shadow / darkness - Caligo “Dark Mist” in Latin. Caligo is still connected to Aqua but can manifest and can look like Aqua - this is her design/ appearance when she chooses to look like herself instead of her light. She is possessive, twisted, and a total bitch (as I have been told). So by all means go RP with her. Caligo hates Terra and Ventus for “fucking everything up” and putting her “precious Aqua” in harm’s way and making her hurt. Caligo is a product of Aqua’s many many years trapped in the realm of darkness.
The original sketch of her was done by amisitterra - I added lacing, and detailed the top - Caligo’s name was wayfindxr. This has kinda been a group project. ^-^

Terra was gone, and he had yet to see Aqua. The two brothers had united in mutual kind with the goal of finding their lost sister and the only clue they had to gone was that she had been lost to the darkness long go.
They needed to know how to find her, and the only thing that Ven could conclude was that they would have to dive in after her. If they could do that then- then they might have a chance. Terra however was completely against the idea of using darkness to enter darkness. In fact the entire concept of darkness - it brought an anger to the surface in his brother that he had only seen a few times before.
He’d tried to reason with him. He’d tried to explain where he was coming from, but any time he mentioned the topic at hand the brunette would just become too much of an emotional mess to make any form of further accomplishments.
It was the mention of Vanitas that separated them.
Even wayfinder clenched tightly in hand the elder had still pulled away. He had become nearly enraged when the younger had suggested using his own darkness as an alternative. He’d said that if Terra didn’t want to use the darkness he had become in touch with, he understood but they still needed to find a way to Aqua...and if that way meant asking for the assistance of his darker half, so be it.
He’d told his brother that he would look for his darkness on his own. Unlike the situation of his siblings, Ventus could not simply call forward or summon his darkness to his beck and call.
No.
Vanitas was his own being and the shadowy boy was one to do as he pleases whenever the urge struck him. Ventus could only wonder where he was now considering that they were both freed of their parts as Xehanort’s pawns....and he could only hope that his other hated the man in question as just as he did.
So their paths parted, despite the declarations of never being torn apart again. Ventus would simply find his darkness on his own. Vanitas always manged to find him when he was lost, so he assumed if he traveled the worlds the other half of his heart would seek him out eventually. They were two halves of the same whole after all. It was only a matter of time before they were drawn together again anyways.
It was natural for him to start in Radiant Garden. The City of Light had always seemingly been a place that his darkness despised. If Vanitas was still causing chaos, he would surely try to destroy the most light he could - and this would be the world to do it in.
So hours passed as he searched, hoping that his darkness would be drawn to him, and it was right in his moment of despair that it opened before him. Steaming from the ground in a grand incising display stood a portal of darkness, calling him in. This wasn’t like his other but he wasn’t about to refuse the invitation.
Stepping into the portal, he felt a chill up his side as the darkness wrapped around him and guided him to the other side. Blue took in the sight of a world filled with shadows and vast outstretches of seemingly nothing.
Just where was he?
“Freedom is a burden. You should be glad I took it away from you.”
The voice that came from behind him and the sound of it chilled him to the bone. It was soft and gentle; loving and kind but it also held a darkness to it that he’d only ever heard in the words of his other.
Turning on his heel, he looked into the soft eyes of the woman behind him and he felt his heart skip a beat.
Aqua!
There she was, his sister; his Aqua. There she was smiling at him with the most caring of expression and she leaned forward and softly brushed her hand on his cheek. It was a warmth that he had missed so, but when her fingers touched his skin all he felt was cold. He knew that feeling. He knew the feeling of the frigid darkness that was running through her, as blue eyes fell closed only to open once more as the pierce gold he knew better than all else.
He stumbles backwards, away from her in fear, his hand coming up to clutch the green star that safely hanging around his neck. “What’s going on?! You- You’re not Aqua.” He stammered out the words, as he looked to her with more concern than anger.
She looked just like her, but this woman gave him the same feeling as his own darker half. What happened while she was trapped down here? Was his sister now suffering in the same way he had so many years ago?
He needed to find her. He needed to help her in away way he could.
“Who- Who are you?” He asked, unsure of how she would react. Did she hold the same aggressive personality that his other did, or was that just a product of Xehanort’s abuse. “Is Aqua... okay?” he sounded again, worried for his sister, as he knew the pain of having your heart split all too well.
The woman only gave him a half smile, half smirk before a portal of darkness appeared once more. She stepped forward to it, as if to pass through, but Ven hesitated to follow her.
“This is where you wanted to go...isn’t it?” She asked, but before he had a chance to answer, like the portal she’d opened - she was gone.
