Chapter One: Yan'tok
The history of the Shatterspear is a proud one, but we are now a dying tribe. With the heritage of our once strong tribe at risk of disappearing forever, I am taking it upon myself to commit our history to parchment for the first time so it is not forgotten.
How we ended up in Darkshore has all but become a legend amongst our people. Little is known of what truly happened, but what is known has been carefully passed down to each new generation from mother to child at bed time, mentor to mentee around the campfire, and through the intricate dances of our tribe.
Thousands of years ago, when the Sundering occurred, the continent of Kalimdor split, shattering into the continents we know today. The ancient Gurubashi Empire was shunted off to the new continent of the Eastern Kingdoms, in the southern tip now known as Stranglethorn Vale. The Gurubashi Empire desperately struggled against disease and famine to stay alive, a shattered remnant of the once-great civilization and, in their desperation, a group of the highest-ranking troll priests made the mistake of seeking out the gods of old for aid. The trolls had many, many gods, but only one answered the priests call; Hakkar the Soulflayer.
Hakkar brought the Gurubashi Empire the power that it craved, but at a terrible cost. The blood god required sacrifices to be made and countless souls of trolls were fed to Hakkar in an effort to keep him appeased. This wasn't enough for Hakkar, however, and he demanded that the priests find a way to summon him physically into the world so that he could feed upon the blood of his victims directly. Fearing what summoning Hakkar into the physical world could mean for them, the tribes of the Gurubashi Empire rose up in revolt, slaughtering the Atal'ai and destroying the avatar of Hakkar.
Though they succeeded in their efforts, the Gurubashi Empire took a blow it would never recover from and the tribes that made up the Empire began to splinter off, each claiming chunks of the Stranglethorn jungles and fighting viciously with the others in order to keep hold of their respective lands. The Gurubashi Empire was no more; instead, there were mere fragments.
Of all the tribes of Stranglethorn Vale, the Shatterspear, along with the Darkspear, were one of the smallest -- and unfortunately, like the Darkspear, our tribe was unable to hold the lands we had claimed. Fearing the annihilation of our tribes, the leaders of the Shatterspear and Darkspear chose to leave the Vale in search of new land. The Darkspear, led by their Chief, Sen’jin, sailed west. Our tribe, led by our Chief, Kil’jin, sailed east.
The tale of the Darkspear has become common knowledge, their martyr Chief and his martyr son now legends amongst the Horde. The tale of the Shatterspear, however, remains hidden, unknown amongst any other but our own.
Until now.
Introduction
Hello Everyone!
This is the story of my characters from World of Warcraft - Yan'tok, Dez'rak, Daz'rak, and Lun'tok - Shatterspear Troll siblings thrown into the world by the events of the Cataclysm. This is a work in progress and I would love constructive criticism. But, don't be too mean! I'm still new to writing and even more new to sharing what I've written!
Also, for those that are interested, all my characters are on Wyrmrest Accord. Dez'rak and Lun'tok are part of the Shadowtusk Clan and Yan'tok and Daz'rak are part of the Shadowprey Tribe.
And, one last thing/disclaimer. My trolls are Shatterspear. Not much is known about this tribe so a lot of what I write concerning their tribe and history will be half made up by myself and half pieced together with what actually is known about the tribe. Don't hate on me. Unless I make obvious lore faux pas. Then, please politely educate me.
Enjoy!
