"What sort of noise was that?” ~shadowsinmyveins
@shadowsinmyveins
What an interesting question indeed...if only he had known the answer. With as many guesses he could make, there is something that told him any such answer would not be very satisfying, leaving him just as curious.
「 ॐ - My apologies, however, I am at a loss for an answer as well. Perhaps we should follow it to find the source? 」
Aoto wants to ask the monk how exactly the whole meditation thing works, but they're anxious about sounding stupid and taking at least fifteen years to stutter through the question. So instead they just curiously stare at him, like a cat. With anxiety. ~shadowsinmyveins
@shadowsinmyveins
if there is one thing the opened awareness of meditation granted him;it was being able to tell when he was stared at. …as well as how anxious the person doing so was.
did they want to say something?ask a question?there were certainly a few things that could be asked;a floating robot monk; meditating; with floating metal orbs around him…
with no movement in his body;and with as gentle a tone as he could make,he decided to be the first to ask.
「 ༀ - did you have a question, friend? 」
deathtama asked:
“You’re gonna make it, don’t worry.”
@shadowsinmyveins answered:
The world is black around the edges of their vision. Slowly and clumsily spinning, tilting. Aoto can’t seem to make themself move, despite any effort they’re putting into doing something as simple as raising their arm to roll over, their tail feels like lead, and for what seems like a long time, the mer is on their back, desperately trying to move and get away. Until a faint, unfamiliar voice assures them they’ll be okay.
Bleary-eyed and weak, Aoto looks at the person, or where the blurry shape of a person is, wanting to warn whoever it was. Aoto isn’t easily harmed, in fact, they'd figured it was impossible before this. But one blessed, glowing sword made of ‘sacred’ wood of all things…and they’re on their back, bleeding out, stuck in their mer-form. Struggling to talk, Aoto rasps ” Itss…st..ill…he..re…
Tama has been watching the...umibozu who resides here for a couple days now. He’d come at first for a little girl who’d been exploring the caves near her home and had wandered too close--seen too much. And while children die every day, it’s still difficult to reap them. Animals accept death, and adults understand it; but children can’t do either. He’d done everything he could to console her, and had even watched to make sure she got to the afterlife safely, but had immediately returned here.
It’s strange to see an umibozu in a cave on the shore... They usually stay in deeper waters. Although he supposes it does make sense for one to be holding a holy artifact, given their lore. Still, Why are you here? He wonders if this one is hiding from something.
And he wonders bitterly which of his siblings he has to thank for that sword. Tama hadn’t done anything yet, though. Mostly because he was sure he’d been missing something. But this person had been just as innocent as the girl; and just as brutally attacked.
Tama may not have given the sword its power, but being a god he feels pretty confident appearing between the specter and the stranger, sprouting about fifteen arms, just as serpentine as the creature’s, and weaving them through the air, some distracting while others yank the sword from its hands.
Drawing the item back to his body, he pulls it toward his center, disappearing it behind the barrier of his torso. The thing that had been wielding that wooden blade had no right to it and, as far as Tama could see, no reasonable justification for its actions. He’d stood back and watched when this person had come close, but he wasn’t ready to let them die, too.
He doesn’t really know or care anymore why the umibozu is on land. His body spreads into a thin, translucent, but impenetrable wall with the sword floating in the center. And he extends himself to the walls, floor, and ceiling, moving toward the creature and pushing it out of the cave toward the ocean.
It resists at first, but as powerful as it is and as hard as it tries to push against him, it can’t actually stop him. Getting the thing out to sea only takes a few moments, though, and once it’s there, Tama continues, his wall form curving to a bit of a shovel, pushing it toward deeper water. After a while the specter moves away from him on its own, pushing into the water beyond Tama and swimming out to sea.
Satisfied, the god returns to the cave and to his humanoid form, kneeling beside the injured merperson. He’s not sure what to do from here, though. “You’re not going to die,” he assures them. “But I don’t know how to treat your wounds. Do you need me to take you to water?” Merpeople aren’t injured often and he doesn’t talk to them much. He tries to keep up with human medicine, but merfolk don’t exactly publish medical textbooks and journals for him to read up on.

Genji blinked at his phone, head tilting before blushing and sending a text back.

60. Side hug
Genji laughed, pulling them into a side hug and nuzzling at their hair. It looked like they needed a hug, after all, and a smile was always nice to see on their face.
“Cheer up!”
