All Joshua had wanted to do was to save them, but once again he had failed. He had failed to protect these people, just as he had failed to protect his home and family back at Phoenix Gate. What good was he as a Dominant of an Eikon when he couldn’t yield its power for the purpose of protection? Once Clive and Jill and him had arrived in Kanver they had split up to search for survivors, but Joshua had quickly been cornered by the King of Waloed and now he was forced to watch the citizens becoming akashic one by one, turning into mindless creatures that could only think about killing and destroying everything in their paths. The Free City was no more.
Joshua struggled against Barnabas’ fingers holding on to his wrist to keep him standing here by his side, but the threat of bones being broken was not as painful as the ache he felt inside his chest upon seeing all this unnecessary cruelty and loss of life. Maybe he could have prevented this. If only he had been stronger..
Fiery wings spread from his back, his body glowing with the fire that was kindling beneath his skin and waiting to break free, but even as he tries to free himself from Barnabas one more time the fingers holding him where unyielding and the King seemed so unbothered by all of this. As if Mythos, no, Clive, was the only thing that truly mattered to him right now. Staring ahead with glowing blue eyes, taking in all the carnage Barnabas had caused that day, his gaze eventually returned to the other’s face.
“What is it you want with my brother? No matter what you will do he will never join your cause.”
