Leviathan hot take (?)
I dislike when people boil Deryn down to her traditionally masculine traits.
She has traditionally feminine traits and they are not a bad thing. She is easily tender in her affection (see Alek crying in Leviathan), she gets lovesick, and those are just the blatantly obvious ones that come to mind in the 2 minutes I took to write this.
In the same vein, some people do the same with Alek and his feminine traits. (I would say the anime leaned this way as well) Alek has some traditionally masculine traits that layer on his personality. Before his character growth he is pretty misogynistic, he gets physically angry, etc.
ALEK AND DYLAN/DERYN WHAT ARE YOU DOING IN MY CANVA?!
Another leyendecker study of the Goliath bonus chapter party because it’s held a grip on my psyche since I was 15 and I am totally normal about them
Realizing I quite enjoy Shalek as a ship name. Wasn’t my favorite but it’s grown on me. Especially cause it now allows for the alliterative tag of Shalek Shenanigans….and that is a wonderful thing
An Archive of Our Own, a project of the Organization for Transformative Works
One rainy night, stressed college student Deryn Sharp fell asleep in a local café.
They woke up three hours later, with their cup empty, their report done, and a pair of cute green eyes looking after them.
... Or just a simple Leviathan coffee shop AU (with a little twist).
Thought I would share my carefully curated Deryn x Alek playlist for anyone interested. Some songs are for the lyrics, some are just for vibes
