Honestly there’s really not much to it dkfnfn? I don’t ever think of them when they’re dating. I think they had a REALLY bad break-up right after ROTI, and they just never got past it.

This idea really just spawned because I went “haha lightning and shawn ship name is shalightning”, then because they’re both in my favorites and they don’t work as a couple, this happened. I guess I find it interesting because it’s very unexpected for both of them, and not something to think too hard about lmao.

The companionable silence was met with a small groan and a rough tug of the blankets to one side, causing a nearby pair of eyes to open into a glare. “For real, Jo?”

“For real. I’m sick of you moving around so goddamn much. I’ve been trying to get comfortable for like half an hour.”

“Well guess how long it took the Lightning to pass out with Jo’s snoring?” he grunted, pulling the blankets back.

Jo sat up and turned on the lamp on her nightstand. “Are you serious?! You snore too!”

“Then how come I’ve never heard Lightning snore,” he met her incredulous look with a glare. “That’s right. I haven’t. But I hear you snore every damn night. AND Jo always takes most of the pillows!”

“Oh quit your bitching, Protein Bar. You’re so hard-headed you could sleep on rocks. You’ll be fine. Or you could sleep on the couch.”

“In his own house?!” Lightning also sat up, angling towards her. “The Lightning is sick and tired of you trying to take his manhood away. You go sleep on the couch!”

“No way in hell. And I’m in charge ‘cause The Lightning can’t be trusted to make his own decisions without adult supervision. Now shut the hell up, give me the blankets, and the rest is up to you. I’ve got to get up in the morning.”

“Why do you have to get up so damn early anyway? Lightning was this close to chucking that alarm clock fifty yards out the window.” Lightning told her, putting his hand near her face to show what “this close” was.

She slapped his hand away and scoffed. “And now I see another reason why you’re such a piss-poor athlete.” To which he growled at. “Determination? Hard work? Are you familiar with either of those?”

“The only thing that’s piss-poor is Jo’s attitude. And last time Lightning checked, he beat you in the last basketball game we had.”

“Well check again.” She snatched the blanket and turned her back to him, not wanting to hear about the outcome of that last game. “You got lucky.”

He scoffed. “Lightning don’t need luck. Just protein. SHA-BA—” his cry was cut off by him gagging, due to a fist to the throat.

“Sha-shut up!”

He growled, clutching his throat. “what’d you do that for?!”

“I felt like it.” A grin spread across her face.

They fell asleep arguing, both without a blanket and in close proximity of one another as the radiant light from the lamp filled the room. Though come morning, Lightning got quite the shiner.

 Jo doesn’t do cuddling.

“Silver”

8:45 AM. Jo just got back from her morning run, and was greeted with silence. This was normal to her. What wasn’t, though, was when she went upstairs to the bedroom and saw an empty bed. “Powder-puff doesn’t get up until at least 10:00…” she thought to herself. “Okay then…”

“Happy Birthday Jo!” She was getting water when Lightning came in the door and approached her with a little black box in his left hand.

“And where were you this early?”

“picking up your present. Lightning knows what day it is.” He spun the box on his index finger and smiled.

She rolled her eyes with a small grin on her face. “Wow, Lightweight. I’m surprised you remembered,” as he gave her her present.

“yeah yeah, Open it.” He smiled more proudly when she opened the box and pulled out a lightning bolt necklace, almost identical to his. A few awkward moments passed before he asked, “Sha-like it?”

“It’s something else, alright. Question,” She said while she studied it. He nodded. “why are they different colors…”

She gave him a skeptical look as she had a gut feeling of what he was going to say. He just wouldn’t. Not today.

“Well since The Lightning always wins the gold, he decided to give silver to the next best thing!” he threw his arm around her shoulders as she ground her teeth.

She clutched the necklace in her hand, edges stabbing at her palm. “Are. You. Serious.”

“Yeah! You could get silver, no problem.” Sometimes sha-better, but Lightning’s not gonna be the one saying that. His phone beeped, and he pulled his arm back. “Lightning’s gotta go. The team’s taking him out for burgers for being MVP!”

She stood there and watched him while he walked out. She grabbed her duffle bag and headed to the gym. A few hours oughta’ do it.

Lightning was sitting on the couch when she walked in. “Afternoon little lightning,”

She gave him a sideways glare, walking upstairs to put away her things and take a shower. Slipping her shoes under the bed, she saw a slip of paper lying on her pillow. Or at least that’s what she thought it was. As she grabbed it, the first two words she read was “hockey game.”

In her hand were tickets to see her favorite team play. Today. She sped down the stairs and was met with her boyfriend’s sly grin. “ready to go?”

She tried her hardest to hide her smile as she went back upstairs to take a quick shower. Hockey wasn’t Lightning’s favorite sport, but he’ll get through it. As long as Jo don’t go ogling no sha-hockey player.

When she was done, she threw the necklace over her head and tucked it under her sweatshirt, making sure it wasn’t visible. He wont notice.

Why I like them: Besides relating to him on the I have to impress my parent or I’m dead and disowned problem, Lightning is fucking hilarious and I love this stupid lug to death. He won’t give an “Oh well. Maybe I’ll win next time.” No. He has to win. Nice butt.

Why I don’t: Misgendering people and they totally fucked him up and put his stupidity to the max in All Stars. Lightning is stupid but not that stupid.
