FOCUS EXPERIMENT: This photo is part of my ongoing experiment shooting with extremely shallow focus. Colorful trinkets adorn the Casa Grande Trading Post in Cerrillos, New Mexico, along the Turquoise Trail.

Assignment-1 ISO 2500, 1/30 sec, f/1.8, 35mm
First time experimenting with night photography! It took a bit to figure out what value to set the ISO to, but I’m very happy with the way this came out. Used a wide aperture (f/1.8) to primarily focus on my headlight and give the streetlights and other features a softer aura.
Assignment-1 ISO 800, 1/4000 sec, f/1.8, 35mm
There was significant brightness pouring through this open window, but kept my ISO at 800 in order to experiment with how my camera reacted to different lighting situations. Found that setting my f-stop to 1.8 required a very fast shutter speed to balance out the other values.
