Gorgeous! 😍💛 Yona is gonna be the cover star for the Hana to Yume Issue 2 dropping on 12/19, which is also when the final chapter is out. PLUS, we're getting new info about the series!

what's the new info even about? 🤔 My brain is already running wild 😭 maybe it's just the next volume or some sick limited edition merch? But lowkey praying for a whole new anime season or an OAD/OVA! 🙏🏻 Or it could be another stage play/exhibit... Either way, I'm buzzing! 🤩
A Suwon character analysis — my final take
The manga ended and I’ve seen a lot of mixed reactions going around. Nothing perplexed me more, however, than the different opinions people had about Suwon’s ending, with one side seeing nothing wrong with it while the other wailed the destruction of what used to be a complex, interesting character.
As a member of the second side, it was tempting to me to assume the first group was just “too stupid” to get the character, so to them a “stupid” ending was still good. But here's what perplexed me: they were better able to interpret the story, and see where it was going, than I was. They always saw it as “Suwon bad vs. Yona good” and behold, the ending proved this is really what the story was.
How on earth did I see shades of grey where none was intended? Or did the author intend them at first, but later changed her mind?

Hero vs Villain
The Antagonist Soo-won in the manga is the "I'll save the world for you" type of guy. Basically every hero ever. He loved his dad, so he became the king who saved the Kingdom just as his dad wanted him to.
The main protagonist Hak on the other hand is the "I'll burn the word down to save her" type guy. Classis villain. He killed anyone trying to harm Yona to save her life on the day of the regicide. He would kill anything and anyone for Yona.
Yet, we love Hak and Yona, cheered for their growth and development and was appalled by Soo won's betrayal. I just adore how Mizuho Kusanagi plays with perspective. Akatsuki no Yona was a villains perspective all along. From the beginning, she was the spoilt princess of a selfish king leading a kingdom to ruin. Hak knew this, being a generals son, he was very aware how how things were outside the castle but he didn't care, if it meant Yona would be happy.
The fact that Suwon was never allowed to enter Hiryuu's shrine since he was a kid, and the first thing he did when he finally stepped foot there, is to stab king hiryuu's corpse 😭😭like this is so funny to me .
I just finished reading Yona of the Dawn, and I am so so full of feelings. This was a near-perfect series for me- it’s whimsical, gut-wrenching, romantic, funny, and everythi from the personal to the political conflicts are just so well written.
I jokingly told my friend that Su-won may have been the start of my love for blonde characters, but really, he’s a wonderful ‘antagonist’.
Enough of my yapping, here’s a doodle I did yesterday 😌🫶😭
