“We will always have each other in our time of need. Daddy you’re the world to me” - I Didn’t Know I Loved You so Much
Shilo at age five tugging on her dad’s hand after he tucked the cover around her and turned on her nightlight and kissed her head. She softly pleads for a story, he sits knowing this story will turn to “Just one more” over and over until the little child had drifted to sleep. So he sits beside her bed and tells her the wildest happiest stories his mind can come up with.
Shilo at age five running in with two little teeth in her hand and bouncing around chiming about the tooth fairy coming to her dad who only chuckles and nods telling her to make sure they go under her pillow.
Shilo at age six running down the halls of her home as her dad runs after her with a sheet hanging behind him and laughing like a big monster. She eventually trips and screams as the monster scoops her up and kisses all over her face and sends her into a giggling fit.
Shilo at age seven standing in her dad’s door way with trembling knees as thinder rumbles and growls through the sky and shakes the walls of the house. She crawls into her dads bed when he calls her in and lays her head on his chest where he kisses it and pets her hair down soothingly.
Shilo at age seven pressing into her fathers chest and standing on his feet to soft classical musical as they dance around the room. In her mind her ball gown swirled around them with every turn and her father’s gloved hands held her tightly and his crown glistened. She was his princess and he was her king and she just imagined him dancing with her at her wedding with her prince standing off to the side.
Shilo at age eight tapping out patterns on the piano over and over messily until she gets them right and turning with a grin to meet her father's loving and approving smile and nod.
Shilo at age eight asking about her mother for the first time and watching her father hide his tears as he tells her that her mother is gone and can’t ever come back. She grabs his big hand with her small fragile one and tells him that it’s okay to cry over people and hugs him tightly as he cries over her dead mother.
Shilo at age nine sobbing in the middle of the night because she woke up with nightmares and the dark is scaring her. Her dad is in faster than you could even say her name and the lights click on and flood the room and he holds her tight. He promises her he won’t leave until the monster in the closet or under her bed has left, and so he spends the rest of the night in her room while she sleeps soundly with her head on his lap.
Shilo at age ten starting her first bug collection. She reads every book about insects she can get her hands on and shoves the books to her father and sits and reads them to him in excitement. Every time he goes out she requests he look for one of them and hands him her little jar. Her father, though absolutely horrified and disgusted by insects obliges and collects her bugs when he sees them. He even assisted her through the pinning process though he found the whole thing disturbing and frightening because insects bothered him.
Shilo at age eleven shutting herself in her room for a couple days, only coming out for meals. Her father worries they’re about to drift apart and that she’s starting to become independent but when he wakes up to a messy breakfast in bed he knows why. She tried her best to cook for him that morning and presented a homemade gift to him that had taken her days to finish and wishes him a happy birthday with a tight hug around his neck.
Shilo at age twelve lays around her room reading but she still had time to go lay with her dad and read with him or sit and tell him about her new books or books that she’s read a thousand times over.
Shilo at thirteen getting into her first real fight with her dad that ends with slammed doors and her running out to her balcony to sit without her mask. She had asked to go out with him and wouldnt let up when he said no.
throughout the years she was everything to her. Her hero, her villain, her dad. He was her everything and had been there through it all and stuck around. He made her house a home and made her time there valuable. He really was her whole world and she took it all for granted for some teen angst rebellion.
Thank you to @CountryMusicAlberta for putting on a beautiful night. It was nice to see this cowboy of mine all cleaned up 🥰

We had a really nice evening watching the Chuck Wagon races in High River last night.
Shawn and our friend Kyra got some great photos and I captured these on my iPhone. My friend Caitlin took the last photo of me checking out the images. 📸
Wishing all a relaxing (and/or productive) Sunday! ❤☀️

[...] Every morning I wake up and smile knowing he is beside me; not just physically but in every sense of the word. I am continually humbled by true love and so fortunate to have found it with Shawn.
