The Duality of Life is an interesting reality that seems to be a great part of your life because of the experiences you faced as being cast as an “alien” within your own culture. Your need for acceptance in your culture is understandable considering how you did not feel welcomed or wanted in it. One thing I know is that feeling abandoned by your culture is very upsetting and can cause major identity issues. Your connection to the Chicana Feminist Movement is another part of your life that could have given you duality in it because of certain views held against the movement. Being seen as a sell-out in your own community because of your desire to fight against many values within the culture that are oppressive to women must have been a challenging stigma put on you. I am inspired by your journey of finding your inner self and taking over the dominion over serpents and rebelling against the norms of your society.
