How to Train Your Dragon 🐲😹
We’ve got a smart one here! It took Shanghai Kitty less than 15 minutes to learn her first trick... Smile for cookies! 😁🍪🍪🍪
Commitment is riding in the dark because the day got away from you but your rehabbing horse still needs to walk for 40 minutes. We survived, despite the deer creeping out of the woods and doing their very best to cause death by spooking 😑
Today we also tried an experiment... check out the dressage edition of Shanghai Kitty! 😍 Luckily she fits Tesoro’s old saddle perfectly!
Childhood dream achieved... behold the majestic Kittysaurus!
That’s a good looking neck right there. Shanghai Kitty, with nothing but rehab walks, still puts a lot of in-work horses to shame with her rockin’ bod 😂💪🏼
Also that mohawk is getting pretty tall... who wants to guess when it will flop over, and to which side?? 🤣
Look who decided that her new shoes felt so good that instead of handling today she should just get back to racing 🙄 Kitty noooo...
We finally caught her after 20 minutes and a hike through the woods to a neighbor’s yard almost a mile away. Cool, cool. Dipped the whole horse in poultice and stuffed her full of Bute. Fingers crossed she didn’t fuck up her leg too badly... 🤞🏼🤦🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️
The injured tendon on day Shanghai Kitty arrived compared to this evening! Over a year of rest and rehab... in one week she goes for another ultrasound, plus a full lameness evaluation to make sure we aren’t missing anything else by focusing so much on the tendon. Excited and nervous about how it will go... it looks and feels much better, but I don’t want to get my hopes up too much. This has been a long road and there’s no telling how much longer it might be.
Not ashamed to say that I’ve been using these extra hot summer days to my advantage when it comes to walking Shanghai Kitty. Heat means a calm 4yo! But she’s been so quiet and will behaved lately but I have trusted her with after-dinner walks, when it is nice and cool out. Much more comfortable for both of us!
