HELLO HELLO HELLO in honour of the week after valentines day 😍 pls tell me about nina/calder's valentine's days: what does calder think of valentine's day / does he spoil nina rotten or think its a hallmark holiday / what was the best thing nina ever did for calder on valentine's day / what was their cutest valentine's day memory 💕

what does calder think of valentine's day?

calder has never truly seen valentine’s day as a pain or an obligation. he likes attention and being lavish, and valentine’s day is all about giving and receiving attention and (for those who can afford it, and even those who don’t) lavishness. sure that for him every day (or almost every day) is cheat day, the world is his oyster etc etc etc, but there’s always been something about valentine’s day that polishes his ego whereas several of his male friends and acquaintances see it more as a kind of chore or gimmick (to which calder’s position has always been, why can’t it be all of that?).  

as a teenager he never cared for giving attention, when nina came into the picture things changed slightly, and after they got engaged and then married they changed even more. he’s still quite shallow and very much enjoys receiving attention (and expects it, in a way), but when you fall in love with someone (for real) things just change and he certainly doesn’t just think about himself and his whims and desires any longer. 

(well, for the most part........................ but let’s stay on topic)

ultimately, nina is the one taking the lead here and how serious or not they take valentine’s day is up to her (as long as he gets a lil special attention - i’m sorry, he’s trash, but you already knew this). i’ll say that he does care about appearances (albeit not exactly in the same way or to the same degree of strictness a lot of his friends do, but still) so if she ever wanted to do something suppperrr cheesy in public he’d be like “but honEy my death eater friends are here........”.

does he spoil nina rotten or think its a hallmark holiday?

i’ve already sort of answered this one but, to calder, you don’t have to pick one or the other: he likes expensive things, he likes to spend money, he understands that money makes the world go round, he understand wanting to capitalize on such holidays, and he likes to spoil his wife (and himself) and make her happy (and himself). 

what was the best thing nina ever did for calder on valentine's day?

this is such a loaded question why are you doing this.

i’m going to keep this pg-13 and say that ...... it was probably her not staying pissed at him and letting him make up to her that one time he was extremely late to their super nice dinner date in their property by the beach because he was with his death eater buds

i wanted to say smth about “that time calder convinced nina he had forgotten that it was valentine's day and then prepared this goRGEOUS surprise for her” but god that does not feel realistic lmao 

.......... or maybe i coulD SAY “that time calder & nina had a regular valentine’s day and it was neat but siKE at the end of the day he surprised her with smth super nice bc he’s just extra like that sometimes”

i think i’m going to be lame and basic and go with their first valentine’s day AS husband and wife. they thought about taking a little trip somewhere because their place wasn’t perfect finished yet and there was probably a lot of “ugh i dont want to spend our first valentine’s day here because it’s not perfect” but when the time came to start packing for their trip they both sort of realised that “i love you and i love this house, what better place to spend valentine’s day in?” so they ended up not going anywhere

it’s such BULLSHIT like i could have posted this damn reply like 4 days ago the only reason why i havent is bc while the essential stuff is all there the “”””details”””” (aka descriptions of the room etc etc etc) aren’t 

like......... i could include character’s inner monologue but??????? there’s no inner monologue to have bc????????? they’re having a conversation?????????????? and irl you don’t overanalize everything you say before you say it?????????????????

and u know what id have posted this already if i was friendly with the person ooc bc everyone who talks to me ooc knows i literally don’t careeeeeee but we don’t talk a lot/at all ooc so i can’t just b like “so anyway i really wanted to reply but i cut all the bs details or else you’d have to wait another week”.
