I believe that Shaozu's in fact a real decent, kind-hearted guy. This is among the things he'd have in common with Asami. But he got roped in by the Wolfbats and gave up enduring as a doormat. 

Also they're both the same age (19 I think? Assuming Shaozu's been with the Wolfbats all four years) and height IMHO.

Because of the abundance of screencaps there's only enough to make like, two or three Shaosami graphics without getting repetitive.

It's best that Asami ends up marrying a firebender.

Because it could contribute to the plot, in the sense that she grapples with how her guy bends the element that killed her mother (assuming she is still occasionally plagued by her mother's death).
