âHey, Sasha, mind if I eat with you?â Connie asked the girl, and when she nodded, he placed his plate next to hers and sat to her side. He smiled at her, watching as she eagerly munched on her food.
He tried asking her a few questions, but if she couldnât answer by nodding or shaking her head, she wouldnât be bothered, as it was time wasted not eating. When he figured that out, he decided to just talk about their training.
He explained with keen details how well heâd done on that dayâs practise just by following Jean and beating him to the mark. By the time he was going to describe in ample detail how heâd torn through the flesh of the pretend Titan, sheâd finished eating.
She stared at his plate, noticing that heâd barely even tried it.
âAre you going to eat that?â Sasha asked, her tongue discreetly licking her upper lip.
âHuh?â When Connie realised heâd been interrupted, he blushed. âYeah, but uh⌠you can have some of it if youâd like.â
âSweet!â She answered, stuffing her mouth with a loaded forkful which sheâd filled before heâd even finished speaking.
He couldnât help but smile as she cheekily grabbed his half-eaten bread and rammed it into her mouth.
When they had both finished his meal, he noticed there were barely no people left. Connie was about to bashfully thank her for eating with him when she leaned in, her eyes wide.
âThereâs still sauce on your mouth!â She spoke, her eyebrows raised. She pressed her lips on his quickly and licked it off carefully before pulling away and smiling at him.
âWell, thanks for the meal!â Sasha grinned, getting up and strolling off, leaving behind a very red and flustered Connie, who could only stare at her in utter astonishment.
âWas that a kiss!?â He screamed inside his mind, his hands trailing slowly over his mouth, where the feeling of her lips still lingered. âDid she just kiss me!?â
Todayâs lunch is grilled cheese sandwiches and a choice of dill or sweet mixed pickles. Iâm sure we have some olives in the fridge if youâd rather not do pickles.
BTW, I donât touch the cauliflower in the mixed pickles, those are Rosieâs favourite. I will, however, eat any of the pearl onions in the jar, those are all mine.
I personally think cracked wheat bread is the best for grilled cheese. We use Maple Dale extra old cheddar cheese from two pound blocks in our house. If you are a cheese nut, I can recommend the various cheeses they make. They are between Belleville and Tweed on Hwy 37, and if you are in the area, I strongly suggest you drop by the plant storefront and pick up some. Yum!
As usual, Rosie will put the kettle on for tea. English Breakfast or Earl Grey are the usual, but Iâm sure we have others in the cupboard if those arenât your cup of tea (see what I did there?
Stay safe, remember your sunscreen and break out your pride flag in support of our friends of every orientation. Love is love.
Rosie (my long suffering wife) finds a lot of soups and especially the ramen noodle packets too salty, but she really wanted a chicken noodle soup for lunch, but thereâs none in the pantry.
So, I guess, itâs time to get creative.
I picked up a package of plain ramen noodle pucks when I was out doing the grocery shopping. Plain noodles with lower sodium chicken broth instead of the packet of bouillon power and water as the base might work. I also add chopped veggies (green onion, celery, mushrooms, radishes, red and/or green peppers and garlic of some kind), and some leftover protein if you want. Add enough broth of choice to cover the noodles and extras, cover and put in the microwave.
I give it 3 minutes on high, stir to break up the noodle puck and mix around the veggies, give it another minute then add a raw egg on top and nuke for another minute.
When done, mix in the partially cooked egg, and garnish with whatever your heart tells you. Make sure to let it sit for a bit, because itâs going to be very hot right out of the microwave.
You now have a quick, filling and reasonably healthy meal in less than 10 minutes (including chopping time). Bon appĂŠtit!
As always, Rosie is just putting the kettle on, and you can have your choice of whatever tea (loose or bagged) we have on hand. A selection of cookies are available as well as a homemade bran muffin, if thatâs your pleasure.
Stay safe, wash your hands and donât be afraid to get creative with what you have in the cupboard. Store bought with additions from the fridge and pantry is perfectly acceptable in this house.

For those that enjoyed this post, Iâm going to start sharing more shared lunches in the future with everyone on Tumblr. I wonât be posting shared lunches daily, or even on a scheduled basis. Lunches will get posted as the time, mood, and food inspires me.
Had my 22nd Birthday back in August!! Had an awesome healthy shared lunch with the girls at course! Yummy!! Was given some beautiful flowers from Grace xx
On Friday we had our Back to School Shared Lunch competition. Teams were encouraged to sign up and create a shared lunch to celebrate our Back to School payroll giving programme. The teams took photos of their lunches and the winners have been decided!
The calibre of entries were extremely high, we are so happy with the effort put in by every team.
The winning entries:
Most creative shared lunch: Credit Approvals Class of 2014 (Natasha Wilkinson)
TF Comments: We were impressed with the thought that had gone into this entry. The team had uniforms, ice cream sundaes and put up lots of decorations.
Best looking food: Skinny (Sepi Sadeghi)
TF Comments: Skinny's food looked good enough to be served at a cafe! Well done!
Most authentic âschoolâ lunch: Wholesale Gen-I and Business Collections (Tracey Mason)
TF Comments: This team had a sandwich bar shared lunch, it looked very similar to the sammies we remember getting for lunch! This team also shared each others old school photos by the looks of it.
Best team effort: Boulcott St Year 11 Shared Lunch (Monica Chik)
TF Comments: Great variety of food, it look likes lots of effort had been put in!
Supreme Award: Gen-i Bay Of Plenty (Andrew Berntsen)
TF Comments: Great uniforms, setting, food and photos. This was the whole package and we loved how this team turned the competition into a team bonding lunch. The photos made us wish we were there too!
Congrats to all the winners, they will receive Givealittle vouchers to donate to their favourite causes on the website. A big thanks to all the teams who particpated, we hope it was as much fun for you as it was for us organising it!
