I agree with you that some people may be "blindly supporting" something they don't understand but there are people who are on tumblr who have known about IC for years. I know people from Uganda who were personally affected by the war and I know people in IC, so, I'm not 'jumping on a bandwagon' Fifi, the girl from Uganda has been able to have an education in the United States because of Invisible Children and people funding IC. Why are you being so negative about this organization?
I'm not saying that they aren't doing good for the people or haven't done so, but they are being shady with the money that they get when I think more should be going to the actual charity and less into the salaries of the people working there. I think a lot of people on tumblr especially (but not everyone) are jumping on this bandwagon thinking that rebloging pictures will make a huge difference. I understand that the first step of doing something is to raise awareness of it, but this has been an ongoing issue that has sparked up again recently because of a video. However, because IC doesn't openly account their funds with the BBB seems suspicious, and they have how they spend their money on their website but I wouldn't believe that that's regulated by an outside source. I just know that if I did spend money to donate to help areas in Africa, with this issue or without, that I would use an organization that was more open about how they spent money and didn't have accusations tied to them of soldiers raping and looting people. I've heard about they good the organization has done though, but with all the hype I notice a lot of people aren't even aware of these things.
