How To Know If Your Workplace Is Diverse?
The answer is clear. Your workplace should represent a heterogenous environment of ideas and creative decisions that are influenced by people of all backgrounds. When you are in a formal meeting or in the break room, your colleagues should be going back and forth on ideas. Everyone should have a say in the matter of the discussion. This would only occur if you have a diverse workforce. If a business’s workplace is overwhelmingly homogenous, then everyone will agree with the same idea or thought. But if there are colleagues of different ethnicity, gender, race, age and/or disability. Interactions at the business will be much more lively and better exchanges will occur. In the end, the company will definitely benefit.
It should be noted that diversity at the workplace, should not be treated as a mere checklist. A person of a certain, distinct background should not be hired for diversity reasons. In fact, the person should be included in the company as a rightful member of equal status.
Now if you as a minority or a person who cares for diversity issues are looking to join a business or organization. And want to know if it is diverse. There is a quick hack. Make sure to pay attention during your interview. Look at their HR personnel. Reach out to current employees, don’t rely solely on online research. Then make an informative decision. This tumblr will surely help you. So please share it among your social media.
