Approaching 100,000 players and going real-time & social
Today, we’re announcing a few things.
First, following four months of 15% average weekly growth, our active user base is rapidly approaching 100,000 players on the platform. It’s absolutely awesome to see so many players joining Playfield, along with nearly 2,000 games from almost 1,000 developers & publishers.
Second, we’re announcing a few awesome new features:
1) A real-time recommendation engine, that helps you discover awesome games on-the-fly on Playfield
2) A content aggregator, affectionally nicknamed “Megamouth”, that gathers gaming-related content from various sources and delivers that content on Playfield
(image: Shark aficionados notice that this is not an actual Megamouth, but a Basking Shark, of course.)
3) Social connectivity - allowing you connect with your friends on Playfield and being able to see what games they are playing, interested in and interacting with.
Our goal is to provide our community members with the best things in gaming, tailored for them personally, every day. These new features are the first step toward that goal.
Hope you guys enjoy the new stuff. Please send us feedback, and remember to keep playing every day!

GAME DISCOVERY AND DISTRIBUTION PLATFORM PLAYFIELD NOW BOASTS NEARLY 2000 GAMES FROM 1000 DEVELOPERS
PC Game Hub Playfield Adds Community & Content Features, Grows its User Base to About 100,000
Shark Punch, Finnish startup backed by London Venture Partners focused on creating a contemporary game discovery and distribution platform, has already demonstrated tremendous momentum across acquiring games, players and innovative product development updates. With only six months in beta, Playfield has added nearly 2000 games from 1000 developers across indie and AAA gamemakers of all genres. The player base has also organically grown 15% weekly in just four months to 100,000.
Playfield is a marketplace and community platform that helps players find games based on personal preferences. Now Playfield automatically surfaces content relevant to each game, from Let’s Play videos to trailers, game reviews and more. Using a content aggregator that pulls information from the internet directly to their game pages, the Playfield storefront adjusts in real time, showcasing live personal game recommendations for their users.
“We think of Playfield as a combination of a more modern improved Steam blended with a TripAdvisor for games,” Jiri Kupiainen, CEO, Shark Punch, said. “Discovery and the right information to make consumer choices are the biggest problem in a sea of games. Most storefronts are informed by sales data so players often miss gems; we are helping developers find their audiences based on player tastes and relevant information.”
Playfield is scheduled to launch Spring 2016. To check out the latest game additions head to Playfield.io.
