“I don’t expect you to get it, not after how rude you were about Gummy.” Gummy is, of course, the custom-ordered Long Furby that once lived at the base of Tomo’s bed and now lives in the same spot on the bed in a spare room, after he decided it was freaking him out a little. In Tida’s probable defence, most people haven’t taken well to Gummy. If he recalls correctly, Minwoo’s first reaction had been to point at it and say, in a tone that could only be described as blasé, ‘that’s evil’ before managing to spill half a can of Coke onto Tomo’s bedroom floor. Chicken, his dog, has tried to attack it countless times. “A, yeah, it’s a collector’s item or else it’d be like half the price. Which is why I need you. To. Not. Judge.” He’s not oblivious to the dirty looks they’re getting but he’s certainly ignoring them; it’s not the first time he’s tried buying Sanrio goods in his Please Don’t Recognise Me getup. At least he’d pushed the sunglasses up to his forehead before entering the shop! Tomo lifts Hello Kitty from her pedestal and hops on his feet a little as he hoists her into his arms, flashing perfect teeth at Tida. It earns them both an even nastier look from the sales assistant but, if there’s something he’s gotten good at ignoring, it is the way other people look at him when he doesn’t believe he’s done anything wrong. Whether or not Tida shares his enthusiasm is not all that important, Tomo’s pleased enough for them both. (Although, he does decide against telling Tida that this is hardly the priciest piece of Hello Kitty merchandise out there.)
“Ooh, do you want something too?” he asks, whipping around to face Tida, eyes bright and sparkling over the top of Hello Kitty’s plush head. Dragging someone along with you to go shopping and then leaving them to stand around while you buy expensive dolls is kind of a dick move so the least he could do is make it a little worth Tida’s while, even if he didn’t seem to appreciate it the way Tomo did. He peers around the edge of the display, half-sneaking and all-arousing further suspicion from the assistant they’d been pissing off. “I could see you as a Gudetama kinda guy.”
