Ever seen a scared #whiteshark ? This one was staying far away so I didn't bother filming him until I noticed he was flinching whenever he'd approach the bait. Later, when he got close, I noticed the small, circular mark on his side from where a DNA sample had been taken. Could this white shark be associating a previous experience of approaching bait and being poked with a #DNA extraction pole? He wants the bait, but is afraid to get too close... I'm not saying the researchers hurt the sharks or did anything bad, just opening a discussion about shark memory and association.
